1 THINKING OUTSIDE THE PALATE SIMPLIFIED RECESSION GRAFTING Course Objectives-In this course you will be able to: See how much less complicated this technique is compared to Pin-Hole and tunneling. Recognize the high prevalence of recession defects in dental practice populations, adding new treatment to increase your practice productivity. Describe how to use acellular dermis to treat recession gaining root coverage, keratinized gingiva and generate reattachment. Develop treatment plans with soft tissue grafts to achieve predictable results. Learn the principles for successful flap design, acellular dermis placement and soft tissue suturing with hands-on soft tissue model surgery. Course Topics: Anticipation and prevention of complications in soft tissue grafting. Covering root caries with acellular dermis, avoiding class V composites. Using 1% metronidazole antibiotic gel to manage soft tissue healing complications. Learn the key steps in successful soft tissue augmentation of implant sites with acellular dermis. Role of new platelet-rich growth factors (alpha-prf) and Emdogain in root coverage and soft tissue reattachment. Live surgery videos of single-site and multiple-site soft tissue graft surgery. Understand the evidence-based literature showing why peri-implantitis is a non-linear infection phenomenon resulting in an exponentially rapid bone destruction.

3 TREATING PERI-IMPLANTITIS THINKING OUTSIDE IMPLANT REPLACEMENT COURSE OBJECTIVES Recognize the prevalence of peri-mucositis and peri-implantitis infections. Observe the histology of gingival tissue reactions to contaminated titanium particles. Review the mechanism of attachment of soft tissue and bone to implant surfaces. Understand the evidence-based literature showing why peri-implantitis is a non-linear infection phenomenon resulting in an exponentially rapid bone destruction. Develop the ability to diagnose early the symptoms of peri-implantitis infection. Understand the characteristics that barrier membranes must exhibit to achieve guided bone regeneration around implants. Gain skills to enable you to anticipate and prevent complications of peri-implantitis. Learn the surgical instruments, sutures, techniques and principles for successful flap design, membrane selection, bone graft preparation and stabilization of healing sites. Flap Techniques/Surface Treatment/Attachment Regeneration Rationale is given for the correct choice of particulate allograft bone to enhance neogenesis with vertical gain of new supporting bone adjacent to implants. You will learn effective flap design for passive soft tissue coverage of treated sites. This technique is shown to be critical to surgical site coverage. Optimal barrier membrane choice takes into consideration handling characteristics, material composition, barrier thickness and resorption rate.
