3 Philosophy & Modules Over the years we realized that specific skills in handling tissues are the priority in implant therapy. Adjusting soft tissue handling to the specific anatomy and biotype of each patient. For this reason the courses at Steigmann Institute focus to teach these specific, valid techniques during surgery and prosthetics in a unique comprehensive way. Hands-On on human like tissue helps incorporate up-to-date scientific based surgical approach in daily practice. Finding out there is a need for a more structured approach in learning about the soft tissue, we offer the whole range of soft tissue management for every location in the oral cavity: 1. 6 Steigmann Institute Implant complications have become a major challenge for many dentists who placed implants. This lecture is designed to help implantologists understand what s new in this field and how to avoid these problems. New definitions as well as treatment prognosis of peri-implant diseases will be presented. Recent research findings of how surface coating influence the incidence of implant complications will be discussed. In addition, this lecture will provide the mechanisms (e.g., surgically triggered, prosthetically triggered and biological triggered implant complications) of how implant bone loss and implant failure occurred. Specifically, how to manage implant esthetic, biological, biomechanical complications will be demonstrated. Three decision trees (implant biological complication management, implant treatment based upon defect morphology and implant soft tissue recession classification and proposed management) will be proposed. The treatments for implant diseases/complications include: chemotherapeutic agents, apically positioned flap with or without implantoplasty, implant surface detoxification, lasers, guided bone regeneration, soft tissue grafts, implant removal as well as re-implantation will be thoroughly discussed. This presentation will also highlight the differences among various lasers, in terms of their ability in management of peri-implant diseases. Current approach of how to manage these complications will be shared with all participating doctors.
