7 Written Presentation Candidate for Public Health Committee Prof. Dr. Vladimer Margvelashvili, DMD, MSc, PhD Oral health is about people and how it affects their lifestyle. Therefore it is important that dental services are accessible to people of all aspects. Born, raised and having worked for over 30 years in the developing country like Georgia, I fully understand the challenges that dental public health is facing in the developing countries. Promotion of oral health programs and projects through the FDI Public Health Committee could help transfer knowledge to most countries that need dental services. I have been trying to promote oral health throughout my whole career as a practicing Prosthodontist, Professor, initiator of continuing dental education in Georgia and Researcher. My research interest has always been oral health status, thus I have conducted various nationwide epidemiological surveys assessing caries experience, periodontal diseases and analyzed various influencing factors. Based on the results of our studies, we have elaborated several oral health programs and educational projects. What adds to this, from 2006 to 2009, I was a member of FDI Communications and Members Support Committee, which lead to my becoming Vice-Chairman from 2009 to 2010 and a Chair from 2010 to After having spent years with FDI I identify myself very strongly with the FDI mission. I have trustworthy social networks and collaborative experience with world renowned scientists and key health decision makers. I myself am member of IADR Regional Development Committee, with this contributing to the evaluation and management of dental projects of the developing countries. I have a long-term experience in working for the Ministry of Health of Georgia starting from Currently, I am the member of the working group for prevention of non-communicable diseases of National Center for Disease Control of Georgia.
