2 What is a clnscpy A clnscpy is the mst accurate methd fr evaluating the cln r large intestine. It is used t screen fr cln cancer and pre-cancerus plyps and als t evaluate ther GI symptms. It is a safe, well-tlerated utpatient prcedure perfrmed with intravenus sedatin. Clnscpy pre-prcedure instructins Yu MUST have an adult t escrt yu hme after the prcedure. Yu are still required t have an escrt even if yu plan t take a taxi, The Ride, GLSS Medical Bus, Uber, Lyft r alternative transprtatin. Yu are nt allwed t drive until the next day. If yu have diabetes and are n ral medicatin, take half f yur nrmal dse the day prir t yur prcedure and d nt take any ral diabetic medicatin n the day f the prcedure. If yu take insulin and have nt discussed this with ur ffice, please call ur ffice immediately. GI Nurse t Call with Insulin instructins: If yu take bld thinners [warfarin (Cumadin), clpidgrel (Plavix), aspirin/dipyridamle (Aggrenx), rivarxaban (Xarelt), apixaban (Eliquis), dabigatran etexilate (Pradaxa), cangrelr (Kengreal)] and have nt discussed this with ur ffice, please call ur ffice immediately. If yu take Aspirin as prescribed by yur physician, yu may cntinue taking as instructed. If yu have sleep apnea and use a CPAP at hme, please be sure t bring yur CPAP with yu n the day f yur clnscpy appintment. Pick up yur prescriptin (GLYTELY) frm the pharmacy. The Dulclax (Bisacdyl) may be purchased ver the cunter. Pick up a bx f Gas-X.

4 Clnscpy Preparatin Instructins Five days prir t yur prcedure: Stp anti-inflammatry medicatins (NSAIDs) such as Aleve, Mtrin, Ibuprfen and Advil. Avid raw fruits, vegetables, and seeds (cked fruits and veggies are fine). If yu take a daily laxative fr cnstipatin as prescribed by yur physician, then cntinue t take it. BE SURE YOU HAVE PICKED UP YOUR PRESCRIPTION FOR THE PREPARATION. Pick up ne (1) bttle f Magnesium Citrate (ver the cunter). Yu shuld als pick up ne (1) bx f Gas-X (ver the cunter). Pick up six (6) Dulclax (Bisacdyl) tablets (ver the cunter). Purchase lemn flavred Crystal Light. Tw days prir t yur prcedure: Yu may have a small, lw residue diet fr breakfast and lunch, finishing lunch befre 1p.m. and then begin a clear liquid diet after 1p.m. A lw residue diet cnsists f eggs, ygurt, cheese, and white /refined bread, cereal, r crackers (n whle grains) A clear liquid diet includes any liquids yu can see thrugh, such as water, tea, black cffee, clear brth, apple juice, Gatrade (nt red, blue r purple), white grape juice, and nn-red Jell-O. Gatrade is preferred since it has electrlytes At 5p.m. take tw (2) Dulclax (Bisacdyl) tablets. At 7p.m. take ne (1) bttle f Magnesium Citrate (if yu have kidney disease, skip this step) D nt drink anything red, blue r purple. D nt drink milk r any dairy prducts. It is imprtant t drink at least 8 glasses f clear liquid thrughut the day, in additin t the prep, t avid dehydratin.

5 The day befre yur prcedure (all patients): Yu may nly have a clear liquid diet tday. Mix the PEG slutin (4L jug) with water nly and refrigerate. Yu may add a lemn-flavred Crystal Lite. We suggest drinking the preparatin cld using a straw. D nt drink anything red, blue r purple. D nt drink milk r any dairy prducts. It is imprtant t drink at least 8 glasses f liquid thrughut the day, in additin t the prep, t avid dehydratin. Prcedure scheduled befre Nn: At 2 p.m. take fur (4) Dulclax (Bisacdyl) tablets. At 4 p.m. chew and swallw tw (2) Gas-X tablets. At 6 p.m. begin drinking PEG (GLYTELY) slutin. Between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. drink 4 Liters (an 8z glass every minutes). At 9 p.m. chew and swallw 2 Gas-X tablets. Prcedure scheduled at Nn r after: At 2 p.m. take fur (4) Dulclax (Bisacdyl) tablets. At 5 p.m. chew and swallw tw (2) Gas-X tablets. At 6 p.m. begin drinking PEG (GLYTELY) slutin. Between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. drink 2.5 Liters (an 8z glass every minutes). Day f prcedure (all patients): Prcedure scheduled befre Nn: Yu can take prescribed mrning medicatins befre 7 a.m. Yu may have small amunts f clear liquids up until tw (2) hurs prir t yur scheduled arrival time and then nthing by muth after this time. Arrive at Endscpy Suite as instructed. Prcedure Scheduled fr Nn r after: At 6 a.m. chew and swallw tw (2) Gas- X tablets. At 6 a.m. drink anther 1 Liter f the PEG (GLYTELY) slutin ver tw (2) hurs (an 8z glass every minutes). Yu can take prescribed mrning medicatins befre 7 a.m. Yu may have small amunts f clear liquids up until tw (2) hurs prir t yur scheduled arrival time and then nthing by muth after this time. Arrive at Endscpy Suite as instructed.

6 Day f prcedure (all patients) cnt d: Take all regularly prescribed medicatins with a sip f water (unless therwise instructed). Please leave valuables and jewelry at hme. Arrive at endscpy center as instructed with the fllwing: Name and phne number f escrt; Cmplete list f medicatins and allergies; Pht ID; CPAP machine if yu have ne (even if yu dn t use it). After yur prcedure (all patients): After yur prcedure, yu will receive written discharge infrmatin/instructins. Please remember that yu will nt be able t wrk, drive, r cnsume alchl fr the remainder f the day.
