2 Study Aims Explore the additive benefits senior citizens gain by using ehealth approaches to support treatment and self-management.

3 Overview 1. Sedentary lifestyle & overweight could increase health problems. 2. Chronic disease, self-management towards improving patients. 3. Technology has been beneficial.

4 Overview As per the latest statistics, 25.8 million people are affected by diabetes in the United States (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011). 171 million people globally are affected by this chronic disease diabetes (Charlene et al., 2008) there is an estimate that shows 366 million people who will be suffering from diabetes on a global level (Charlene et al., 2008).

5 Literature Review Ø ehealth ehealth interventions are promoted worldwide and hold a great potential in future health care for people with chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) (Lie et al., 2017 p. 2). Ø Self-management Anderson et al., refer to self-management as inter-disciplinary group education, based on the principles of adult learning, individualized treatment and case management theory (2002, p. 177). Ø Obesity According to the World Health Organization, obesity is abnormal or extensive fat accumulation that negatively affects health.

6 Research Questions RQ1 What are the benefits of using self-management throughout ehealth (e.g., mobile, Internet-based) for enhancing the health condition among senior citizens who have diabetes? RQ2 What are some examples of self-management that can improve the self-management of senior citizens who have diabetes? RQ3 What factors should be considered by using selfmanagement, and self-care when designing an effective ehealth system for senior citizens.

7 Methods A review study was conducted. Ø The searched was for studies published between January 2013 to December 2018 that met inclusion and exclusion criteria. CINAHL Plus. PubMed. ProQuest. Ø The methodology used on this review study involved five steps.

11 Future Directions ü Include more health data bases such as EMBASE, TOXNET, Google scholar. ü Focus on Senior citizens who suffer from type 2 diabetes. ü A more rigorous exclusion criteria.
