8 The Bladder/Brain Connection Researchers tested 274 women who had already been diagnosed with overactive bladder Each women took standardized tests to evaluate mental health Results: 60% of the women had moderate or severe depression; 62% had moderate or severe anxiety The greater the severity of their bladder problems, the more likely the women were to have depression or anxiety A separate study found similar results: 48% of patients with overactive bladder had anxiety symptoms Additionally: women taking drugs for overactive bladder were 38% more likely to be diagnosed with depression What is the link?
