Pancreas The pancreas is an elongated, tapered organ located across the back of the abdomen, behind the stomach. The right side of the organ (called the head) is the widest part of the organ and lies in the curve of the duodenum (the first section of the small intestine). The tapered left side extends slightly upward (called the body of the pancreas) and ends near the spleen (called the tail). The pancreas is made up of two types of glands: Exocrine The exocrine gland secretes digestive enzymes. These enzymes are secreted into a network of ducts that join the main pancreatic duct, which runs the length of the Endocrine Functions The endocrine gland, which consists of the islets of Langerhans, secretes hormones into the bloodstream. The pancreas has digestive and hormonal functions such as: The enzymes secreted by the exocrine gland in the pancreas help break down carbohydrates, fats, proteins and acids in the duodenum. These enzymes travel down the pancreatic duct into the bile duct in an inactive form. When they enter the duodenum, they are activated. The exocrine tissue also secretes bicarbonate to neutralise stomach acid in the duodenum. The hormones secreted by the endocrine gland in the pancreas are insulin and Problems glucagon (which regulates the level of glucose in the blood) and somatostatin (which prevents the release of the other two hormones). Problems with the pancreas can lead to many health problems. These include: Pancreatitis or inflammation of the pancreas: This happens when digestive enzymes start digesting the pancreas itself Pancreatic cancer Cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder in which thick, sticky mucus can block tubes in The pancreas also plays a role in diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the beta cells of the pancreas no longer make insulin, because the body's immune system has attacked 1

them. In Type 2 diabetes, the pancreas loses the ability to secrete enough insulin in response to meals. Causes There are different causes of the pancreatic disorder. They are Excessive alcohol intake Gallstones blocking the bile tubes Infection Tumours Mumps Excessive medication and drugs Excessive eating of sugars such as sweets, biscuits, cookies, cakes, pasta and bread Genetic abnormalities Symptoms The symptoms of pancreatic disorders are: Spots (on Pancreas) Pain in the upper abdomen Jaundice- Yellowing of the skin and eyes Bloating Back pain Loss of appetite Vomiting Nausea Diarrhoea Weight loss Fever Rapid pulse Acute pancreatitis can lead to dehydration, low blood pressure, shock, organ failure and death. 2

Pancreas Cleanse A Pancreas Cleanse involves first cleansing the bowels, then clearing dental problems, when possible, then a Kidney Cleanse followed by a Liver Cleanse. By clearing parasites and toxins from your body in this order, you should optimally be able to cleanse the Pancreas Cleanse Juices There are many herbs that can promote pancreatic function. When doing a cleanse you should drink at least two litres of water daily. This may last as long as three days to a week or more. Mix all and serve without strain and don t add lemon or sugar, drink sipping slowly. 1. Lettuce, carrot and beet Juice A cup of long-leaf lettuce (it contains more sodium than potassium) One cup of carrot juice A bit of bee honey Procedure Mix the ingredients and sip it. 2. Brussels sprouts, carrot and celery juice A cup of Brussels sprouts A glass of carrot juice A stick of celery Mix and sip unsweetened without lemon, since it destroys some vitamins such as A. 3. Green beans, carrot and celery juice One cup of carrot juice Half cup of tender green beans A stick of celery Mix and eat it. 3

4. Mango, sunflower seeds and Molasses juice A ripe mango One tablespoon of sunflower seeds Molasses Mix everything and drink as explained. 5. Papaya, almond and flax seed juice A large slice of papaya A heaping tablespoon of flax seed Three almonds Blend all and drink 6. Orange and lemon juice (to drink in the morning) A glass of orange juice Two lemons Mix and drink. 7. Carrot, beet, apple and asparagus juice Five carrots ½ beet One apple Four stalks of kale or asparagus (Shatavari) Grind and blend well. Drink as earlier juices. Pancreas friendly diets 4

1. Fenugreek (म थ ), blueberry leaves (न ल बदर ) and ginsengs (अश वग ध ) are often used to promote pancreas health and can be taken as a supplement or made into a tea. 2. Cinnamon (द लच न ) may help improve insulin efficiency, reducing the stress on the pancreas, as does goldenseal, cedar berries (द वद र क ब र ), ginger (अदरक) and dandelion root (क नफ ल). Benefits Pancreas Cleanse gives results in a week. Observe the following. Improves circulation throughout the body Improve eyesight Weight loss between 4-5 kg. Normalizes and maintain blood sugar level Stimulates the natural secretion of pancreatic fluids (enzymes, pancreas juice, insulin, etc.) Stimulates, revitalizes and repairs the pancreas gland Normalises and maintains healthy blood pressure Stimulates peristalsis (bowel movement) to keep the colon clean Increase urination and fluid expelled from the body Repairs, strengthens, nourishes and cleanses the kidneys Improves metabolising of fat, carbohydrate and protein. 5
