This program provides basic concepts of diabetes management and includes an up-to-date overview of diabetes medications. Through lectures and hands-on learning activities, attendees will learn practical tips and be better prepared to care for patients with diabetes. This program is for health care workers who care for adult patients with diabetes but do not specialize in diabetes care and education. This program will benefit registered and licensed practical nurses, certified medical assistants, nursing assistants, public health nurses, parish nurses, community health workers, dietitians and medical interpreters from a variety of practice settings, including hospitals, clinics, group homes, assisted living, employee health settings and long-term care facilities. 3 Program objectives This program is intended for health care workers who care regularly for people with diabetes but do not specialize in diabetes care and education.
