1 Athletics program I Have Talent has developed a unique athletics and sport development programme specifically tailored to meet the needs of schools that strive for excellence within their sport program. With our team made up of teachers and coaches we have firsthand experience of the struggle management have in providing a coaching programme that comply too the high standards demanded by parents and communities. Athletics plays a major role in the development of a school as a holistic entity, and form a vital part of the marketing package presented to future students. Success in athletics communicate that a school is passionate about their sport development and that clients are provided with a high standard of individual attentiveness. I HAVE TALENT s athletics development strategy has been developed to assist schools in taking their athletics programme to the next level. By implementing a structured strategy modelled around leading athlete and sport development programmes from leading coaches all around the world, we facilitate schools in delivering a service that athletes and parents in the community are inspired to become a part of. By utilising detailed coaching manuals that cover all the aspects of coaching a specific athletic event we are able to train teachers to adapt a coaching methodology that incorporate the latest coaching techniques, planned training schedules and facilitate effective drills specific to develop an aspect of the athletics event. Due to our unique athlete talent identification strategy the school sports department have a detailed analysis of all the students talents towards sports. Specific sport assessments are applied to gather information regarding the attributes students require to participate in a sporting skill. Assessment results forms an important role in the development of athletes and sportsmen. Strengths and weaknesses of students regarding sports attributes are communicated to the coaching staff, and coaches can apply this knowledge towards team selection as well as training programmes. Students and parents also receive a results certificate, parents perceive this as an excellent value added service presented by the school and interpret results in connection with their child sport interests.
2 STRATEGY The I HAVE TALENT s athletics and sport programme concentrates on two aspects to ensure optimal athletes development. Athletics Coaches: An educational approach has been devised in regards to developing a comprehensive programme to equip coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills they apply during training of athletes in their specific events. I HAVE TALENT have done extensive research to develop a coaches training manual for each athletics event, providing coaches with a day to day implementation plan that incorporate all the different aspects of training athletes in a specific event. Training Manuals consist of season training phases, weekly training work schedules and specific session lesson plans. A detailed description as well as a video database of training drills are provided, ensuring that the coach not only knows when and why a specific drill or skill needs to be trained, but exactly how the drill needs to be done and what the athlete should look like if the drill is done correctly. Please see related documents for a demonstration of a coaching manual for the Long hurdles athletic event. Sport talent identification: Physical attributes such as true speed, power, explosiveness, reaction time and agility forms the baseline of skills youngsters require for athletic events and team sport. I HAVE TALENT s Physical fitness assessments allow coaches, athletes and parents to identify strengths and weaknesses in a athlete and player s ability in regard to the attributes of sports. Assessment results form a platform for the design of training programmes, and should be integrated into all sports. Results can also effectively be incorporated to identify students that have talent towards a specific athletic event. Sport teams like Rugby make use of assessment results to assess their players overall sport performance, and assessment plays an important role in team selection. Assessment is used to compare athletes and player s abilities and talents against others of the same age group and training teams. I HAVE TALENT s Sport talent assessment includes: Electronically timed 40m true speed test Electronically timed 20m Acceleration test Explosiveness Agility Reaction time Flexibility Horizontal jump Vertical jump Assessment results are compared to national norms, providing coaches and parents with vital knowledge of student s abilities. Please see related documents for examples of assessment results.
