5 How to understand a BAT Logic Report? Glossary of terms Hip-Trunk: The hip is defined in this case as the hip joint and femur (thigh), the trunk is the body from the pelvis up to the shoulders. Hip Trunk Ratio Score: Hip Trunk Ratio Score: A score describing an athlete s hip and trunk movement pattern from catch to maximum handle force (see below). This movement is what produces the initial and strongest force in the stroke. Our analysis of this movement also considers how well the athlete transmits this force to the boat. The coach or coaches will determine what movement pattern they would like their rowers aiming for. A higher Hip Trunk Score reflects a more leg focussed initial drive phase. A lower Hip Trunk Score reflects a more increased trunk activity during initial drive phase. Instrumented Foot Stretcher (IFS): Unique footplate sensor system invented by BAT that analyzes and measures foot force on the ergo in 5 detailed graphs - total force, left and right forefoot and left and right heel (upper and lower parts of the foot). Forefoot Heel Shoe Plate Pro QuickRelease : BAT Logic base footplate - a red plate that fits between your shoe and footboard to give you better performance and reduced injury risk by increasing your foot stability, feel, connection heel loading and power. CustomPack: BAT Rowing shims that fit between your shoe and Shoe Plate Pro QuickRelease. Designed for fixing leg length asymmetry, poor heel loading and to compensate for poor ankle flexibility. Customizes your setup. Leg length symmetry: 95% + of the population have a difference in leg length. Leg length symmetry describes how even in length your left and right legs are. If you have uneven symmetry, when rowing, you have an increased risk of pelvic and spinal injuries etc and possible problems with boat balance, steering and equal power in your leg drive. Foot force curve: The power curve (as displayed in graphs) that is generated from your leg drive by measuring the power your feet supply to the footboard. With our Instrumented Foot Stretcher (IFS) this is measured very accurately and broken up to represent specific parts of your feet. It can show - total power, stroke efficiency, asymmetry in leg power and foot connection. Maximum handle force (MHF): The maximum power you are generating in your stroke, the point at which most power is supplied to the handle. This is also the maximum foot force and is the point at which your body is under most load. Body sequencing: What parts of your body are moving and when, during the rowing stroke. This is focussed on the main segments of the legs/hip, trunk and arms. Heel Loading: The point at which your heel makes contact with the footboard during the leg drive. This is linked to when you can use your glutes (large bum muscles), hamstrings (large muscles at the back of the thigh) and quad s (large muscles at the front of the thigh) most effectively and powerfully.
