1 MyHealthCenter Program Basic Guide As a way to navigate the newest version of MyHealthCenter, I have created this basic guide. What is MyHealthCenter? It is an on-line health and wellness tracking tool. You can use it to earn 9,500 points, which will get you a $250 gift card to local retail stores or a variety of health and wellness prizes. Does it have anything to do with the Health Club Credit Program? Yes. Each calendar year, people that use the Health Club Credit Program need to log into the on-line MyHealthCenter program and complete a Well-Being Assessment. The Health Club Credit Program allows you to gain $240 annually. You enroll at a local participating gym and exercise at least 12 times a month to gain $20 in return. Can I use both programs? Yes. You can use both programs, HOWEVER, you can only earn a total of $250 annually by using both programs. Can my spouse use the programs? Yes. Your spouse can enroll in both programs and earn the $250 annually too. How do I get started? Before beginning the Well-Being Assessment, it is good to have your health numbers* which include: Total Cholesterol LDL HDL Fasting Blood Glucose Weight Height Waist (in inches) Blood Pressure NOTES: The UND Work Well offers health screenings in the fall and spring to get these numbers for FREE. You can also call your health care provider for numbers from your chart, or make the time to go in and get these numbers. MyHealthCenter is managed by a 3 rd party vendor, Healthways. The individual information does not go to BCBS, only aggregate (total) data. All UND Employees and spouses (covered under your UND health plan) can use the $200 preventative health benefit. Ask your health care provider to code the lab test at preventative and up to $200 will be covered each calendar year. I checked and my full cholesterol work-up is $ at my doctor s office, so I asked my dr. to code the lab work as preventative and it was totally covered.
2 Getting Started On-line: It is best to use Internet Explorer with this newest version of MyHealthCenter. Go to You will come to a page with a woman in a green shirt. Press the BROWN Go to MyHealthCenter page. Or go directly to: Bookmark this page, so it is easy for you to return Everyone (including previous users) needs to click the GREEN button, Not Registered? Sign up Now! towards the bottom, left of the page. For returning users, you will go through a few screens to re-access your account. For new users, you will go through screens and create a new username and password.
3 Once you finish the registration, you will get this screen shot: NEXT: Plan to spend about 40 minutes on the first section: WELL-BEING ASSESSMENT. Once you finish the Well-Being assessment, you will see this screen: At this point you can:
4 Create a Plan - Create a personalized well-being plan specifically tailored to you and the areas that need improvement, such as eating better, losing weight, exercising or managing your stress. Take Action - Complete specific steps at your own pace to improve your health and well-being. CREATING PLANS: On the top blue bar, click My Well-Being Plan. There are at least 7 available: Healthy Eating, Stress Management, Exercise and Fitness, Self Care, Medication Adherence, Tobacco Cessation and Weight Management. This part may seem difficult because there are many options. My best suggestion is to call the customer service representatives if you have questions at: I have asked what works for some people at UND who are using this new system and have received the following ideas: Track exercise (10 points each day x 7 days a week = 70 points) o You could use the My Exercise and Fitness Plan and type in the type of fitness activity, such as bicycling for 30 mins. (Moderate intensity) on 5/27/11 and then press SAVE. Note: You have to use the words in their system. For instance, I tried biking and it doesn t allow you to finish, so then I typed bicycling and words came up that I could use below the box. Write in your journal (You get 15 points day and can enter 5 times a week = 75 points) o For me, I go to the blue toolbar on the top labeled My Well-Being Plan, click Exercise and Fitness and there is a grey bar in the middle of the page with My Journal. o To add new pages, on the right, under the title, My Journal Entries click Add New Entry. Track Weight (Weight tracker 25 points, 1x a week = 25 points) o Go to the blue toolbar on the top labeled My Well-Being Plan, click Exercise and Fitness, then when you look at page, you will see Track My listed on the right side of the page. Click on Add/Remove Trackers. You can then add Steps and Weight and Save. Go to the resources center to download an article. You can read articles, download tools and watch videos, all will give you points. (You can do this 7x a week and earn 5 points each time = 35 points) o This is on the top blue tab. Go to Resource Center. o Look at the article titles and click on the icon next to one (the icon looks like a newspaper) o Tip: Once you go back to your home page (also on the top blue menu bar, you will see your points instantly added from your visit to the site that day). For a quick 100 points, create a personal target: o Go to the blue toolbar on the top labeled My Well-Being Plan and click it. Scroll down and you will see a box titled, personal goals. Type one in and press SAVE. If you create 3, you get 300 points.
5 Seeing your Points: Scroll way down to the bottom of the page. You will see a bar that starts with Help and Support and the last listing is Incentives. If you click on Incentives, You can look at your Progress of things you are almost done completing and your History of all the points you ve been getting. According to Healthways, here are ways to earn points and their point values*: o Weekly max: 490 o Well Being Assessment completion: x yearly o Well Being plan set up: 400 1x yearly o Enrollment: 1 time lifetime 50 o Complete 2 action items from action list: 15 points each, up to 5x per week = 75 points o View/Listen/Read resources: 5 points, 7x a week = 35 points o Journal entry: 15 points, 5x a week = 75 points o Exercise Tracker: 10 points, 7x a week = 70 points o Steps Tracker: 10 points, 7x a week = 70 points o Servings tracker: 10 points, 7x a week = 70 points o Weight tracker: 25 points, 1x a week = 25 points o Food tracker: 10 points, 7x a week = 70 points Quarterly activities: o Report Labs (updated in health record): 25 points Quarterly 3x = 75 points o Report Biometrics (update in health record): 25 points Quarterly 3x = 75 points o Advancing to next readiness stage of change : 200 points 4x per behavior = 2400 points *These point values are periodically updated. Point Redemption: Scroll down on your main page and click Incentives Point redemption can occur anytime during the calendar year, but MUST occur by December 31 st. It is a use it or lose it system. You will complete the top portion of NDPERS vouchers that are ed by Work Well. Every fiscal year (July 1- June 30 th ), you can earn a maximum of 1,000 points that will be deposited into your account by November 1st.
