1 Content Standard 1 Movement Demonstrate competency in motor skills, movement patterns, movement concepts and strategies needed to perform in a variety of physical activities *Locomotion: Demonstrate fundamental locomotion skills while participating in a physical activity. *The continuous development and practice of skills to ensure individual success of physical activities *Describe how pedometers are used to track number of steps taken. *Demonstrate proper eye/hand, eye/foot coordination (throwing, catching, kicking, trapping, striking) K-4 : Stretching, running, use of pedometers, football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, frisbee, scooters, hula hoops, SpinJammers, tag games. *Locomotion: Demonstrate fundamental locomotion skills while participating in a physical activity. *The continuous development and practice of skills to ensure individual success of physical activities *Describe how heart rate is used to monitor exercise intensity. *Demonstrate proper eye/hand, eye football coordination. (Throwing, catching, kicking, trapping, striking) Grades 5-8 : Dynamic stretching, running, use of heart rate monitors, football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, flicker ball, toukball, scooter basketball, Demonstrate intermediate or advanced competence in at least one activity from three of the following categories: outdoor pursuits, individual and team sports. Apply scientific principles to learning and improving skills. Maintain and improve physical fitness, motor skills and knowledge about physical activity.. Demonstrate essential and appropriate movement patterns. Grades 9-12
2 Content Standard 2 Fitness Demonstrate and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness through regular participation. *Demonstrate introductory outdoor, lifetime and leisure activities *Participate in games, sports, and outdoor activities, both in and outside of school, based on individual interest and capabilities. K-4 : Lawn games, bowling, badminton, strength and fitness activities, pedometers, football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, SpinJammers, frisbee, jogging/running. Grades 5-8 Benchmarks *Demonstrate introductory outdoor, lifetime and leisure activities *Design and complete an individual fitness plan that incorporates the 6 components of fitness *Participate in games, sports, dance and outdoor activities, both in and outside of school, based on individual interest and capabilities. Grades 5-8 : canoeing, kayaking, archery, lawn and camping games, bowling, snow skiing, ice skating, badmiton, GPS, golf fitness room, heart rate monitors, weight room football, volleyball, toukball, soccer, basketball skills, net games, flicker ball, scooter activities 9-12 Monitor exercise and other behaviors related to a health lifestyle. Maintain appropriate levels of cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility for a healthy lifestyle.. Willingly participates in physical activity.
