2 An Active Mind in an Active Body We offer a wide range of activities for all ages and abilities, on a weekly basis these include; Badminton, Football, Trampolining, Karate, Squash, Rollerskating, Fencing, Gymnastics, Pilates and many more These are all run by qualified instructors who understand the importance of an Active lifestyle. This is a great way to try something new, learn different skills, meet new friends, stay active and most importantly, have fun! It s party time! 3 Courses Descriptions Our courses are available in blocks; during school term time only and advance payment is required to secure your place for the term. Badminton l B l T l Y Y YO Develop your tactical knowledge of the game and introduce new skills. Basketball l B l Y A fast moving game which develops co-ordination, with emphasis placed on team-play. Bowls (Sept-March) l T In this course you will cover the following elements of the game : Measurements, Correct delivery of Bowls and Jacks, laws of the game, sportsmanship, position of play, length and line, types of shot, speed of green marking and more. Fencing l T A fast, exciting and athletic sport which keeps both mind and body fit. All equipment is provided. Fitness/Weight Loss course l T Something different every week from group cycling, HIIT Circuits, Fitball, Toning & Shaping, Resistance band training, boxercise & Core Stability. Tots Rugby l B l T Y YO An introduction to rugby skills, developing hand-eye coordination, catching, running, swerving and team play. Soccer Tots l B l K l T ly This course will help develop your child s ball-eye coordination, balance and ball control whilst encouraging teamwork. Squash l T Build hand-eye coordination; learn new skills and tactics of this high speed sport. Tai-Chi l B Designed to improve your health through balance, posture, bodily alignment and stress relief. Trampolining l B l /Tramp Tots Y l T Courses begin with tuck and star jumps and progress to advanced rotations, twists and combinations. Parents/carers must stay to act as spotters. Socks must be worn. Yoga l K A physical and mental discipline incorporating stretches and exercises to calm the mind and energise the body. Football l B l K ly Learn the best techniques for dribbling, passing, shooting and tackling to improve your overall game. Gym Tots/Fun l B l T A basic introduction to gymnastics which will help improve your children s co-ordination, confidence and social skills. Karate l B l T l Y Y YO Karate teaches self discipline, can improve self-esteem as well as improve overall fitness. Pilates l B l T l Y Y YO Pilates exercises work to tone muscles which are hard to reach improving balance, stability and flexibility with a focus on controlled breathing.
4 Activity Descriptions If you would prefer to take part in an activity on a weekly basis but pay-as-you-go why not try one of our activities below. Parent and Toddler l Y A fun pre-school session which takes place in Atlantis adventure softplay. Activities 60yrs+ l T Play a variety of sports in a social environment; for ages 60yrs+ only. Aikido l T A Japanese martial art that uses grappling, throws and non-resistance to weaken opponents. Badminton Social l B l T Come along and enjoy a badminton session; a great way to meet new friends. Badminton 50yrs+ l K Come along and enjoy our social badminton session; for age s 50yrs+ only. Crèche (Term time only) l B l K l T ly Suitable for pre-school children and infants. Parents/guardians must remain on site. Judo l B A martial art and combat sport where the object is to takedown and immobilize the opponent. Judo (Special Needs) l B An ideal sport for people with a wide variety of disabilities including the blind or visually impaired. Judo Tots l B l T A fun way to introduce Judo to tots, through games. Jujitsu l B A popular martial art based on using the opponents own energy to their own disadvantage. Karate Adult l B l T Teaches self discipline, can improve a person s self-esteem and as well as improve overall fitness. Line Dancing l Y Men and women take to the floor for a dance; a fun way to keep fit and meet new friends. Ossies Activities l T This multi-activity session which includes badminton, table tennis and squash. Recreation Ladies l T Meet new people in a friendly, social environment whilst taking part in a variety of sports and activities. Recreation 60yrs+ l B l Y Play a variety of sports in a social environment; for ages 60yrs+ only. Rollerskating (Skates are provided or you can bring your own) l B l K l T Set to the latest tunes you and your family can enjoy whizzing around in our sports hall. Rookies 8-15yrs l B l K l T ly Rookies Junior Lifeguards club covers water rescue and emergency response with competitions and challenges. Social Wednesday 60yrs+ l Y A social group offering a diverse range of activities from the non-sporting to line dancing. Softplay (If no parties are booked the area is open to the public all day) l B l K l T ly Softplay is open everyday and is available for party hire from 11am-7pm. Squash Junior l K A fun session introduces youngsters to the basics of squash in a fun environment. Squash Night l B l K l T Practice your squash skills in a fun, relaxed social environment. Swim To Fitness (14yrs+ and able to swim 400m+ in the 3 main strokes) l B l K l T This is a set training session to help improve stroke technique and swimming fitness. Swimming Tri-Club l K Ideal for the swimmer looking to improve their swimming fitness and technique. Walking Football l Y Walk don t run football played on our 5-a-side courts with simple rules in a fun social environment.
