1 6 th Grade PE Standards Essential Questions: What is the difference between wellness and physical fitness? What is difference between physical education and life-long fitness activities? What is the value of physical activity for one s health, self-expression and/or social interaction? Anchor Standard 1: Demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. Dance and Rhythms 1. demonstrate mature patterns of loco motor skills in dynamic smallsided practice tasks, gymnastics and dance. 2. combine loco motor and manipulative skills in a variety of small-sided practice tasks/games. 3. combine traveling with manipulative skills for execution to a target (e.g., scoring in soccer, hockey and basketball). 4. use appropriate pacing for a variety of running distances. 5. combine jumping and landing patterns with loco motor and manipulative skills in dance, gymnastics, and small-sided practice tasks/games. basic dance and rhythm movements. pattern skill rhythm there is a level of skill involved in order to be competent in dance and rhythm patterns. certain movements involve both skill and pattern. 1. demonstrate correct rhythm and pattern for a different dance form from among dances (i.e. social, creative, line and world dance.)
