2 Welcome We are pleased to announce the 7 th Conference on Surgical Stroke, created as a joint effort between European and Japanese neurosurgeons, on a crucial field in continuous advancement but still with complex therapeutical modalities and with significant disability rates. This year the European Japanese Conference will take place in the beautiful city of Verona, Italy, located near the Alps, next to Lake Garda and one hour from Venice, one of the world s most enchanting cities. The program is a very interesting one, dealing with subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebro-vascular malformations (aneurysms, arterio-venous malformations, cavernomas); a separate section will deal with cerebral revascularization, both for complex aneurysms and ischemia. Experts in the field will meet in Verona to discuss about the possible solutions to many problems and to face controversial issues. Young neurosurgeons are most welcome to participate in the Conference; there will be sessions dedicated to short presentations, and colleagues from Europe and Japan are encouraged to submit abstracts pertaining to the Conference s topics. With these expectations, we hope to welcome many European and Japanese guests for a fruitful exchange of information and for a pleasant stay in a period of the year that benefits from a perfect climate and the unique Opera Festival at the Arena.
