4 DR ABDALLAH AL MOHAMMAD, CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST, SHEFFIELD TEACHING HOSPITALS NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Dr Abdallah Al-Mohammad is a consultant cardiologist in Sheffield s South Yorkshire Cardiothoracic Centre. His main interests are heart failure, cardiac imaging and endocarditis. He has contributed to several clinical guidelines by NICE, and is contributing to research in heart failure and imaging. MRS JAN FORSTER, CONSULTANT CONGENITAL SONOGRAPHER, LEEDS TEACHING HOSPITALS NHS TRUST Mrs Jan Forster works in the Congenital Echo Dept in Leeds scanning the fetus, neonate, children and adults with congenital heart disease (CHD). She is also involved in training obstetric sonographers throughout the UK in conjunction with Tiny Tickers to improve antenatal detection rates of CHD. DR KATE GATENBY, CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST, LEEDS TEACHING HOSPITALS NHS TRUST Dr Kate Gatenby is a recently appointed consultant cardiologist at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust with subspecialty interests in heart failure and echocardiography. Within echo she has further interests in the assessment of valvular heart disease using bike stress and is a member of the Leeds Valve service. DR ANITA MACNAB, CARDIOLOGIST, UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL OF SOUTH MANCHESTER NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Dr Anita MacNab is a cardiologist in charge of the echo service at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. Her main areas of expertise are in stress echo, 3D echo and TOE for valvular heart disease, especially for mitral repair. She sits on the British Society of Echocardiography council and leads the stress echo accreditation panel. DR DAVID OXBOROUGH, READER IN CARDIOVASCULAR PHYSIOLOGY AND CLINICAL CARDIAC PHYSIOLOGIST, LIVERPOOL JOHN MOORES UNIVERSITY Dr David Oxborough (PhD) is a reader in cardiovascular physiology at Liverpool John Moores University with over 100 peer reviewed publications utilizing echocardiography in health and disease. He is actively involved in the British Society of Echocardiography education committee and has led on two clinical guidelines and co-authored on numerous others. He is still clinically active with sessions at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, within the community and in the private sector as well as involved in athlete screening. DR DOMINIK SCHLOSSHAN, CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST, LEEDS TEACHING HOSPITALS NHS TRUST Dr Dominik Schlosshan is a consultant cardiologist in cardiac imaging at the Yorkshire Heart Centre in Leeds. He is clinical lead for the echocardiography department and valve clinic. He is imaging lead for the trans-catheter aortic valve program in Leeds. Clinical and research interest include mitral, aortic valve disease and novel trans-catheter valve interventions. Dr Schlosshan is co-investigator in trials looking at new trans-catheter technologies to treat aortic, mitral and tricuspid valve disease. He is a council member of the British Heart Valve Society. DR VISH SHARMA, CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST, ROYAL LIVERPOOL AND BROADGREEN UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST Dr Vish Sharma is a consultant cardiologist at the Royal Liverpool and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospitals. He has a background in multimodality imaging, adult congenital heart disease and cardioobstetrics. He is the vice-president of the British Society of Echocardiography, chair of the Education Committee and co-editor in chief for Echo Research and Practice.
5 DR RICK STEEDS, CONSULTANT CARDIOLOGIST, UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS BIRMINGHAM NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Dr Rick Steeds is a consultant cardiologist at University Hospitals in Birmingham, specialising in cardiovascular imaging. He is the immediate past president of the British Society of Echocardiography. He is an honorary reader at the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, University of Birmingham, has published more than 200 peer-reviewed research articles, and is a strategic associate editor for Echo, Research and Practice. With funding from the BHF and commercial sources, he is currently using multiparametric CMR and echocardiography to investigate the role of myocardial infiltration in valvular heart disease and in cardiomyopathy related to rare diseases. DR MARTIN STOUT, CLINICAL ACADEMIC CARDIAC PHYSIOLOGIST, UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL OF SOUTH MANCHESTER NHS FOUNDATION TRUST Dr Martin Stout is a clinical academic with a joint position between Manchester NHS and Manchester Metropolitan University. He is an active researcher in echocardiography, university programme director, British Society of Echocardiography Education Committee vice chair and council member.
