2 Course Description This conference will provide attendees with updated information on new research, clinical trials, techniques and treatments in the management of coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, and peripheral arterial disease. This symposium will offer case-based education with a focus on the rapid changes in percutaneous left main and chronic total occlusions, percutaneous aortic and mitral valve prostheses, left atrial appendage occlusion, carotid interventions, and percutaneous thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysm treatments. Intended Audience The target audience for this program is cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular specialists, nurses, ARNPs, PA-Cs and technologists. Needs Statement Interventional cardiology is a dynamic field that is constantly evolving as new pharmaceuticals, devices, technologies and techniques are developed to care for patients with coronary artery disease, structural heart disease and peripheral arterial disease. Physicians generally do not have access to new or investigational treatments or to late-breaking clinical trials unless they have attended national professional society meetings. This course will fill that gap by presenting the newest treatments for coronary artery disease, structural heart disease and peripheral arterial disease. Some of the treatments to be presented have developed so rapidly that many are still investigational but are already being used in practice to provide needed treatment options. Course Objectives At the conclusion of this symposium, the participant will provide better patient care through an increased ability to: Review and discuss percutaneous mitral and aortic valve techniques, review indications for treatment of mitral insufficiency and aortic stenosis and discuss outcomes of recent trials in mitral and aortic disease Summarize recent results of trials in ASD and PFO/ Stroke, disseminate observations of PFO migraine interaction and review techniques and device selection for PFO and ASD closure Discuss outcomes of LAA closure trial, review patient selection for use of LAA closure, and ascertain training requirements for interventional cardiologists Analyze results of carotid and ACS trials from ACC 2010, discuss use of trial results in contemporary medical practice and review and assess ongoing clinical trials Assess use of CTA and MRI for diagnosis of coronary and structural disease and discuss integrating imaging technologies for therapeutic decisions Report the outcomes of new ACS trials, identify new techniques to assess vulnerable plaque and evaluate new drug therapies and indications in ACS Compare and contrast new surgical and percutaneous devices for CHF, assess left ventricle assist devices as a destination therapy and discern timing and patient selection for device therapy Review outcomes of new drug trials in CHF, report new drug classes for treating CHF and compare and contrast drugs vs. device outcomes in CHF Review new technologies in the treatment of carotid disease, interpret results of the CREST Trial and assess future management of patients based on new clinical results Analyze outcomes of the SYNTAX Trial, discuss optimal techniques in treating the left main coronary artery and evaluate the use of PCI and surgery in LMCA Review new devices and techniques for crossing chronic total occlusions and evaluate when CTO therapy is indicated Discuss techniques for radial artery access, review management of complications of radial artery access and discuss patient selection for radial artery access

Along the way, he has been a TV weatherman, talk show host, stand-up comedian, short-story writer, newspaper columnist, magazine essayist, TV sports reporter, radio and TV voiceover announcer and character voice talent in cartoons and video games. For several years, he was a featured performer, writer and producer on the Seattle-based sketch TV show Almost Live!, a program that was also syndicated nationally and appeared for two years on the Comedy Central network. For his work on that show, and other TV efforts from performing to writing, directing to editing, Cashman has won dozens of Northwest Emmys, advertising awards, radio honors and medallions from the International Film and TV Festival of New York. Cashman has also been the much-honored host of several popular Seattle radio shows, consistently winning newspaper readers polls as Favorite Radio Personality. He was recently awarded Western Washington s Funniest Comedian in a poll of KING TV s Evening Magazine viewers.
