1 Shivpuri District Profile Shivpuri district ranks fourteenth in terms of total population in the state and fifteenth in regard to decadal population growth rate (2001 -) among the fifty districts. With a sex ratio of 877, it ranks forty-sixth in the state. Shivpuri district comprises of nine tahsils, namely, Badarwas, Karera, Kolaras, Narwar, Pichhore, Pohri, Bairad, Shivpuri and Khaniyadhana. As per Census 20, the district has 1417 villages and 7 towns distributed in five Legislative assembly constituencies. Census 20 figures indicated that the percentage share of scheduled caste population to total population was 18.6 percent while that of scheduled tribes was 13.2 percent. A substantial population of percent of the district lies below the poverty line; where BPL percentage is percent in rural Shivpuri and in the urban areas this figure is registered as percent as per estimates.
