3 Summary Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India in association with Directorate of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy, Government of Tamil Nadu and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised National Arogya Fair 2017 from 5-8 May 2017 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai. Chennai National Arogya Fair 2017 was organized with the objective to promote, propagate and showcase strengths and potential of Indian Systems of Medicines the research and development efforts in this sector and create awareness about remedies available in AYUSH to the general health problems and integrate the Indian medicinal systems with mainstream healthcare delivery structure. The health fair attracted huge participation from medical practitioners, drug manufacturers, State & Central Government departments and general public, showcasing and promoting the latest developments, strengths, efficacy and affordability of the AYUSH systems of medicine which includes Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH). The 4 day fair was full of activities to educate visitors about the benefits of adopting Indian Medicine Systems including Speciality Clinics related Ayurvedic, Unani, Homoeopathy, Sowa-Rigpa and distribution of Medicines, Yoga Demonstrations by experts from MDNIY, CCRYN, Technical Sessions on subjects relevant to the AYUSH industry and practitioners, Display of Medicinal Plants. AROGYA fair highlights the advancements in clinical practices, research and documentation, manufacturing and the processes involved in these systems of medicine in addition to the medicinal plants sector. The visitors took full advantage of the consultation clinics in various therapies i.e. Ayurvedic, Unani, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Naturopathy as well as dispensaries. The Fair was inaugurated by Dr C Vijaya Baskar, Hon ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu in presence of Mr Mohan Pyare, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner, Directorate of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy, Government of Tamil Nadu. Prof Dr R S Ramaswamy, Director General, Central Council for Research in Siddha, delivered the Keynote Address. Also on the dais were Mr P Ravichandran, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu State Council & President, Danfoss Industries Ltd and Mr M Ponnuswami, Vice Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu State Council & Chairman and Managing Director, Pon Pure Chemicals (P) Ltd. 3

12 b) Yoga Demonstrations Yoga Demonstrations were organised by experts from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga & Central Council of Research in Yoga & Naturopathy Government College, Government of Tamil Nadu.
