CBD and Your Health. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a molecule found in plant species such as agricultural (or industrial) hemp, and Echinacea. CBD is one of at least 489 distinct compounds within hemp: it is clear that cannabis and CBD are two entirely different things. Cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid, it is not psychoactive and has anti-psychotic effects. Due to decades of old laws throughout most of the western world banning the cultivation or use of marijuana, clinical research into CBD and the human endocannabinoid regulatory system is not as advanced as might be expected. In fact, it might not be wrong to say that the endocannabinoid system has a leading role in one of the last great mysteries of how the human body works. Michelle Reillo, Ph. D and co-founder of ViPova TM has written that, The human endocannabinoid system is responsible for memory networks in the brain, both excitatory and inhibitory, including the neurogenesis of hippocampal granule cells, which regulate the timing of the endocannabinoids in accordance with the brain s needs, pain perception, mood, synaptic plasticity, motor learning, appetite and taste regulation, and metabolic function, which regulates the storage of energy and transport of cellular nutrition. CB1 receptors are located in the central and peripheral nervous systems as well as the lungs, kidneys, and liver. CB2 receptors are predominantly expressed in the immune system and hematopoietic cells.

There is a vast amount of research required to unlock the knowledge of precisely how CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system; and how these influence or affect human health. But already, early indications are astonishing to many observers. Documented research has implicated the endocannabinoid system and/or cannabidiol to each of the following conditions: Alzheimer s disease and dementia Anxiety and Depression Appetite Asthma Cancer Cardiovascular function Digestion Epilespsy Fibromyalgia Glaucoma Headache and migraine Huntington s disease Immune function Inflammation Irritable bowel disease Liver disease Memory Metabolism and energy homeostasis Multiple Sclerosis Nausea and vomiting Neural development Neuropathic pain or chronic pain

Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis Osteoporosis Post-traumatic stress disorder Parkinson s disease Psychiatric disease Psychomotor behavior Schizophrenia and psychosis Spinal cord injury and disease Stress and emotional state regulation Tourette s Syndrome Wake/sleep cycles Wasting syndrome in AIDS and cancer patients The list is so comprehensive it is staggering. No claim has been made and no claim is being made that CBD cures any of these conditions or diseases. However, thousands of researches, usually working independently of each other, have discovered links or associations of some kind, between CBD or the endocannabinoid system, and each of these diseases or conditions. It seems clear that, with links or effects to such a widely varied group of conditions, the endocannabinoid system plays a central role in human health, even if that role is currently poorly understood. Perversely, much of the research to date has been conducted on cannabis, not necessarily with regard to which of the 485 compounds within the cannabis might be responsible for noted outcomes. The majority of such studies temper potential beneficial outcomes with remarks of the negative psychotropic effects that are often associated with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). For example, following is a table summarizing various published clinical trials on smoked or vapourized cannabis: Table 7: Published Clinical Trials on Smoked/Vapourized Cannabis and Associated Therapeutic Benefits Percent and dose of Δ9- THC (if known) Trial duration; and number of patients/participants Reference

Primary medical conditions and associated secondary end-points (if any) for which benefits were observed HIV/AIDS-associated weight loss HIV/AIDS-associated weight loss; disease-associated mood and insomnia Multiple sclerosis-associated pain and spasticity Central and peripheral chronic neuropathic pain (various etiologies) Chronic neuropathic pain from HIV-associated sensory neuropathy HIV-associated chronic neuropathic pain refractory to other medications Chronic post-traumatic or post-surgical neuropathic pain refractory to other medications and associated insomnia Chronic pain of various etiologies (musculoskeletal, posttraumatic, arthritic, peripheral neuropathy, cancer, fibromyalgia, migraine, multiple sclerosis, sickle cell disease, thoracic outlet syndrome) mg) containing 1.8% or 3.9% THC by weight, smoked once daily (~14-31 mg Δ9-THC /day) mg) containing 2.0% or 3.9% THC by weight, smoked four times per day (i.e. 4 doses per day) (~ mg of Δ9-THC /day) mg) containing 4% THC by weight, smoked once per day (~32 mg Δ9-THC /day) mg) containing either 3.5% or 7% THC by weight, smoked in bouts over a 3 h period 1 cannabis cigarette (~900 mg) containing 3.56% THC by weight, smoked three times daily (i.e. 3 doses per day) (~96 mg Δ9-THC /day) mg) containing between 1 and 8% THC by weight, smoked four times daily (i.e. 4 doses per day) One 25 mg dose of cannabis containing 9.4% THC by weight, smoked three times daily (i.e. three doses per day) (~7 mg Δ9-THC /day) One 0.9 g dose of vapourized cannabis containing 3.56% THC by weight administered three times per day (one dose the first day, three doses per day for next three days, one dose the last day) (~96 mg Δ9-THC /day) 8 sessions total (3 sessions per week); 30 participants 4 days total; 10 participants 3 days total; 30 patients 1 day total; 38 patients 25 patients 28 patients 21 patients 21 patients (166) (167) (188) (168) (142) (186) (172) (187) Much of the research conducted to date has been with animals or is laboratory research and is not based on human clinical studies. Pre-clinical animal studies may have predictive value but may not translate accurately from an animal species to humans. In

humans, there is also always the possibility of placebo effect, though that is not likely possible in animal studies. ViPova TM has formulated its tea to infuse CBD within lipids in order to provide a more comforting and bioavailable delivery to the human digestive system. It will take the collective work and research of thousands of highly trained professionals to determine whether there are actually any health benefits associated with ingesting CBD, and if so, how best to optimize CBD delivery. We do not know the answers today. But in the meantime, you have ViPova TM.
