3 Implementation of koha how it's made possible to CSIR Labs The project entitled CSIR Knowledge Gateway & Open Source Privat Cloud Infrastructure (KNOWGATE) under Information Sciences Cluste of National Laboratories Scheme of CSIR during 12 th Five Year Plan wit a project outlay of Rs lakh was approved by CSIR HQ on 7 th Jan 2013 with the following objectives: To enhance the capacity and capability of CSIR computing power through CSIR private cloud infrastructure and Open Source Software Technolog Solution Cell (OSSTSC) To provide CSIR KRCs an Integrated Library Management Solution using open source Software To share information resources among CSIR laboratories by creating CSIR Distributed Library: catalogue sharing, inter library loans, & referral servic for document supply service. To analyse CSIR research, technology and related data using multi dimensional analysis

9 Data Collection & Objective of the Study The data were collected from CSIR-NISCAIR websites, Knowgate taskforce meeting minutes and accessed individually the status of Koha availability of each CSIR institute KRCs, the number of collection they held and quality of links of Webopac sites were recorded. Objectives of the present paper: The objectives of this study are given below: The primary objective of the study to examine the current status of implementation of Koha in all CSIR laboratories spread over in India, To know about the module level of implementation.

12 Findings and Conclusions: The findings of the study are given below: It is found that Libsys was the most preferable ILMS by the CSIR labs before implementation of Koha OSS. It is found that almost CSIR KRCs have been adopted Koha OSS for thei computerized library housekeeping activities. The study found that 15, 92,586 records have been migrated into Koha from various ILMS. It is found that Circulation, Catalogue and Web OPAC, Serial Control modules are functioning properly in all CSIR KRCS It is also found that almost CSIR KRCs Web OPAC have been customized as per thei needs. It is also found that NISCAIR has developed CSIR Virtual Union catalogue and available through KNOWGATE website. It is a single point entity that provides metadata of CSIR KRCs holdings. It may be concluded that Koha is a very powerful OSS for academic and research libraries. Koha have been fully functional in all CSIR Labs of KRC and Web OPAC available for access to world wide communities to find out the resources
