It is acquired from Asian trees of the Aquilaria genus, with their valuable resin producing timber called agar. In the natural environment, not many trees allow the production of oud, since the resin is created only on infected or injured tree trunks and branches. Over 30 kg of agar need to be distilled per 20 ml of oud and in order to obtain 20 ml of the valuable oil. Beautiful scent, low availability and the difficulty of gathering, make oud s prices extremely high. Its average price is USD per kg. Vanilla the scent of real vanilla is a composition of circa two hundred aromatic substances. Only in such a form it is added to the most famous, branded products.
