2 This year marks HOPE S 40 TH year of service to our community and beyond. It is inspiring to reflect on our past. We have grown from one support group in 1978 to 12 groups. The HOPEline, our monthly newsletter, began in 1982 and continues to help grieving people. Approximately 1200 newsletters are mailed or ed each month. Currently, 7 staff members provide counseling with requests on the rise. These three services are free of charge. In addition, we publish our popular book HOPE For Bereaved: Understanding, Coping & Growing Through Grief, plus four training manuals. We purchased HOPE s Center in 1991, established the Butterfly Garden of HOPE in 1993, retired the mortgage in 2013 and renovated the Center in In 2017, our Grief Resource Kit: K-12 was updated and professionally printed. Reactions to the kit are very positive, What an amazing tool the kit will be for our district. Our goal, in this 40th year, is to expand our support, services and outreach to the bereaved with emphasis on helping grieving youth, to update our Grief in the Workplace program and to financially solidify HOPE for decades to come. HOPE is blessed by our dedicated staff, volunteers and support from the community, which is a tremendous help since we do not receive annual funding from any source. It is heartwarming to hear the bereaved reflect how helpful, even life-saving, HOPE is. Making sure HOPE will be here for the bereaved for the next 40 years is vital. Please help connect HOPE with business charitable committees, foundations, service clubs and places of worship. This will enable us to spread the word about our support groups, counseling and other services and to raise the funds needed to provide these free services. YOUR SUPPORT HELPS HOPE MAKE A DIFFERENCE HOPE s book, counseling & support group meetings have been a lifeline through the darkest days of my life. Attending the drug overdose support group helps so much. It is good to be together with others who understand. Over 500 individuals attended last year s event making it a great success marks HOPE s 8th annual run/walk and the 40th Anniversary of HOPE For Bereaved, Inc. providing services to the bereaved of our community and beyond. Your sponsorship will help defray the cost of organizing the event. The fund raised go toward our goal of raising $40,000; which will help HOPE to continue offering our core services (support groups, one-on-one counseling and monthly newsletter) at no charge to the bereaved and expanding programs and outreach services for grieving children, teens and their families.
