2 There are 800,000 families with disabled children in the UK. Contact a Family help 20% of them, but we want to reach more! I cannot thank Contact a Family enough for their help over the years. In times of utter desperation, they have really made a difference to me. Quite simply, they are there when no-one else is.

3 He loved dinosaurs he called them Dowsers Our son Cameron had Cystic Fibrosis and Duchenne s Muscular Dystrophy a devastating combination. However despite everything he faced, he never complained and had the most amazing spirit. He had a great sense of humour and was always inviting other children on the ward to play with him. Like most little boys he loved dinosaurs, he called them dowsers he had his own favourite toy dinosaur, a triceratops named Troy. Sadly we lost Cameron suddenly and unexpectedly in In just 5 years he gave more love and laughter than many people give in their entire lives. He was happy in spite of everything, and even during the most difficult times he was grateful to be here. On the 19th June (Cam s birthday) we always hold a Dowser Day to remember him and do what we can to change attitudes towards disabled people. We are thrilled that this year people will be joining us across the UK and holding dinosaur fundraising days to raise money for Contact a Family. It can be hard and lonely caring for a disabled child and the support of Contact a Family can make a huge difference. Thank you for taking part in Dinosaur Day, we really appreciate it. 4 Fundraising Ideas You can let your imagination run wild when it comes to fundraising activities for your dinosaur day. To help you get started we have come up with a few ideas below: 1. Wear a dinosaur it could be anything from a dinosaur pin badge, to a dinosaur onesie, donate to take part. 2. Dinosaur cake sale get creative and get baking to hold a dinosaur bake sale. Collect donations for cakes. 3. Dinosaur quiz hold a dinosaur themed quiz with teams paying to take part. You can bump up your fundraising total with a raffle. 4. Design a dinosaur use our handy design a dinosaur sheet to come up with a fantastic scary dinosaur, 1 to take part. 5. Dinosaur film screening ask your local film club to host a special screening of a dinosaur film! Ask for donations for tickets. 6. Dinosaur spelling bee donate to take part and see who can spell the most dinosaur names. You could raise even more for Contact a Family, by running a sweepstake on the result! 7. Dinosaur bingo download our dinosaur bingo cards, pay to take part.

5 Promotion ideas It is important to let as many people as possible know about your plans for dinosaur day to make it a T-rex size success! Here are some hints and tips to help you: 1. Social media Get your event on your favourite social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google +, Pinterest. Don t forget to use #dinoday 2. Poster we have A3 or A4 posters available for download or as a hard copy. Put them up in a prominent place. 3. Intranet - if your school, office or community group has it's own intranet then post your event details on the homepage. 4. Invites - by post or Press - contact your local newspaper or radio station we have a handy press release template for you to use. Getting in touch with other parents was like being able to breathe. There had been so much stress and anxiety and it was such a relief to know that there were others out there living and coping with this condition.

6 How to bank your money Thank you so much for all of your hard work supporting Contact a Family by holding a dinosaur day. In order for us to use your money to help families we would kindly ask you to bank your money as soon as possible after your event. There are 3 different ways you can pay your money in, but if you are having difficulty then please call Kaya on and we will help you as much as we can. 1.. Send a cheque made payable to Contact a Family to: Contact a Family, City Road, London, EC1V 1JN 2. Donate on our website please ensure you add in the additional comments box that this was for your dinosaur day 3. Direct bank transfer please call us on or fundraising@cafamily.org.uk for our bank details. Don t forget to let us know your contact details when banking your money so that we know who you are and can thank you!

7 How we spend your money We support families, whatever their child's disability or health condition. We provide life-changing support and advice via services including: a helpline, parent support groups, medical information, and family fun days and outings. The money you raise will help transform the lives of families of disabled children can help parents overcome isolation and find practical ways to resolve challenges by joining a parents workshop. 25 can support parents at their most difficult time by having a 1-to-1 session with our parent advisers who support families in hospital. 50 can help parents find a way through money worries and pressures through a dedicated session with our finance specialists.
