Give a gift. Change the world. 2018

The St. Andrew Alternative Giving Market provides the opportunity to donate to local and global organizations while giving a unique gift to someone you love.

Do something about issues like poverty, injustice and hunger while celebrating holidays or special occasions. Giving a life-sustaining gift in honor of a friend or family member is a simple and meaningful way to show you care. Visit the Alternative Giving Table Sunday Mornings December :30 am to noon

AfterHours AfterHours is the alternative ministry of Rev. Jerry Herships, and its aim is to serve the poor and spiritually independent. It s not unusual to find folks from the homeless community, college students, judges, and agnostics sitting around the same table. All in all, they celebrate God in the world, focus on putting more love out into the streets and the rest just falls into place. Family Promise As part of a network of support churches, St. Andrew houses homeless families for one week at a time, generally arriving on Sunday Morning and leaving the following Sunday. Volunteer opportunities are available for all ages and include playing with kids, overnight hosting, providing meals, setting up and taking down amenities for the week, and transporting families. Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Colorado Coalition is a broad based organization with many programs and services to aid the homeless, including residential communities and Stout Street Clinic. The clinic provides primary care, medications, immunizations, vision and oral health care to name a few. St. Andrew has been directly involved by running a birthday program and Summer Camp at North Station. East Elementary Eighty one percent of the students at East Elementary in Littleton are from low-income families and qualify for free or reduced rate breakfasts and lunches. Your gifts will go toward supporting library and music programs.

Urban Peak Urban Peak meets homeless and runaway youth where they are. UP provides them with the assistance and support they need to become self-sufficient or to obtain the necessary services needed to maintain a safe existence. Services include street outreach, a 40-bed shelter for youth ages 15-21, a daytime drop-in center, employment services and much more. Habitat for Humanity At Habitat for Humanity, we build. We build because we believe that everyone, everywhere should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. More than building homes, we build communities. We build hope and we build the opportunity for families to help themselves. Your donation will help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials. We are building in Littleton at the Sheridan Square Development and as we build we look forward to partnering with the school in the area to support their students and families as well. St. Andrew Compassion Fund Our church has a compassion fund which provides emergency help to both congregants and strangers who enter our doors and ask for help. Money is provided for food, utilities, and emergency housing. By contributing to the St. Andrew Compassion Fund, you will be helping our friends and neighbors who are in great need.

Plant a Forest Forests are under threat from many forms including clearcutting for agriculture which leads to rampant deforestation of tropical forests. By partnering with Sustainable Harvest International (SHI), families adopt regenerative farming methods to preserve forest ecosystems and restore degraded land. Families learn how to improve soil health and grow organic crops that can withstand our changing climate. Collaboration with local schools helps children appreciate the positive impact trees have on the environment and in their communities. Clean Water for Rural Villages Unsafe drinking water can carry a number of life threatening diseases such as cholera, diarrhea or typhoid. In India, diarrhea is the second most common cause of death among children under the age of five. India Partners (IP) is bringing clean water to people in remote villages by drilling wells and installing storage tanks. IP also provides Water and Sanitation Hygiene training to villagers. It focuses on methods to keep the water source safe and to keep villagers healthy through the simple, but effective practice of handwashing. Together they save many lives. Rescue Children from Sex Trafficking Sex trafficking affects millions of children each year worldwide. Children are exploited in brothels or are victims of cybersex trafficking. International Justice Mission (IJM) rescues victims and provides medical care and counseling. They also train and mentor law enforcement officials in rescue operations and have helped secure convictions for the perpetrators.

STEM Training for Native American Youth Across tribal lands, there is an urgent need for cleaner energy and employment for Native American Youth. Trees, Water & People (TWP) and We Share Solar, seek to unlock their potential through education and employment. TWP brings STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) awareness and hands-on learning into the classroom, with particular emphasis on renewable energy and educating girls. The project is focused on high-risk communities beginning with both the Pine Ride and Rosebud Reservations; areas with significant solar energy potential. Gift of Pigs Celebrate 2019, the Year of the Pig, with the gift of a pig through Heifer International. A family will receive training on how to raise the pig to provide food for their family or to start a pig farm with a long-term positive impact on them and their community. Community Animal Health Workers Animals need food, shelter and medical care just like we do, but in many countries access to veterinary care is limited. That s why Heifer International enables individuals to become animal health workers with training in animal health, husbandry, breeding and nutrition. It provides them with a viable skill for themselves and a needed resource for their communities. Build a House in Guatemala St. Andrew is partnering with Pura Vida to build a house in Guatemala by financing the house in order to offset the cost for the homebuilders. Your donation will help purchase materials, tools and other essentials to get the house off the ground. Total cost for a house is $5500
