2 Celebrating 25 Years of Healthcare Ethics Dear Friends, In 2019 the Healthcare Ethics Consortium (HEC) welcomes you in celebrating our 25th annual conference and our partnerships throughout the years. In this two-day conversation, Deeply Rooted: Healthcare Ethics in an Era of Change, we will grapple with both enduring issues and new, disruptive questions. We look forward to exploring how the discipline of healthcare ethics has evolved around several central themes, as a foundation for exploring what we might anticipate as the field of healthcare ethics develops. Our primary topics over the two days include: Healthcare Ethics Deep Roots in the Nature of Death/End of Life Respect for Autonomy in an Era of Change The Ethics of Measuring, Metrics and Predicting the Future Human Touch, Human Care and the New Technologies We will welcome multidisciplinary healthcare professionals in nursing, medicine, social work, spiritual care, bioethics, health law, medical humanities, and other fields interested in exploring where our deep roots in Bioethics and Healthcare Ethics will take us. 3 ABOUT US The Healthcare Ethics Consortium (HEC) is a nationally recognized center of excellence providing leadership in health care ethics education, reflection and practice. We are a network of healthcare organizations that share a common interest in bringing ethics analysis to patient care and organizational issues. Our membership is comprised of hospitals and health systems, home health agencies, hospices, long-term care facilities, and other health-related organizations. The Consortium is affiliated with the Emory University Center for Ethics. The Consortium provides educational programs and consultative services for healthcare professionals, healthcare organizations, and the community.
