Interest Groups Coordinator Christine Gilbert may be reached by phone, , or at cgilbert@austin.rr.com Book & Audio Book Circulation Kay Hopper , kqhopper1986@gmail.com Cody Brady , codybrady@earthlink.net This group is meant for people who like to read current books or listen to audio books and aren t looking for a discussion about them. Each individual in our group purchases a recently published book and/or an audio book and then passes it along to the next member on the roster. We pass along selections every three to four weeks during the academic year and in May we gather for a potluck salad lunch. Book Discussion Morning Eileen Thompson eileenspinweave@gmail.com Lynn Stokoe sstokoe@austin.rr.com Our April meeting will take place on Thursday, April 19th. An will be sent to all morning book group members with detailed information regarding the location for the meeting and the book to be discussed. Please Eileen or Lynn if you would like to join this group. New members are always welcome. Meetings are informative and fun. Book Discussion - Evening Carole Buckman cdbuckman1966@gmail.com Spouses and significant others are welcome with members to join the evening book group. On Monday, April 9 th, the group will meet at the home of Sylvia Huntsman. We are reading Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neal degrasse Tyson. Bowling Frances Beachy francesb22@hotmail.com Doesn t matter if you are better at turkeys or gutters, we welcome you on any Friday morning for a lot of fun! Call for details and directions. Bridge Kay Knutsen , kayknutsen1@hotmail.com We meet on Tuesday mornings at the Humana Center located in the HEB shopping center off Braker Lane between Jollyville Rd. and Hwy 183 (Research Blvd). We start at 9:30 am and usually finish between 12:30 and 12:45 pm. We maintain a list of ULC members who play with us often and we also have a list of substitute players (including both members and nonmembers) who join us less often. We welcome both novice and experienced players. Call Kay for more information. Foreign Foods Ardyce Walser ardycewalser@mac.com The Foreign Foods group will meet at the home of Rich and Dianne Crawford on April 21 st for a crawfish boil. Co-hostesses for that evening will be Jane Chenevert, Rogene Tesar, and Sandy Huber. Walking Adventures The Walking Adventures Group is in need of a coordinating leader for the group. This year, individual outings have been planned by different group members who organized a walk/tour, made reservations for a wonderful place to eat, and if needed, determined a meeting place/carpooling to begin the outing. The coordinator handled communication with group members. The outings are usually the first Thursday of the month. Ouida Wright is planning for a tour of the new engineering building on campus on Thursday, April 5 th. Details to follow in an . If you are interested in taking on the coordinator s job, please contact Christine Gilbert, Interest Groups Coordinator, (512) Movie Buffs Christine Gilbert cgilbert@austin.rr.com We ll go to a movie on the 3 rd Thursday, usually starting between 12 and 1 pm. Christine will the list a few days before the movie about movie choices and selection. Wine Tasting Group Ouida Wright (512) ouidajo@shinoak.com The Wine Group will be having their end-of-year party on Sunday, April 8 at the Tarrytown Boat Club, 2608 Scenic Dr. 4-6 p.m. Spouses (or significant others) are invited to this event. The meat will be provided and wine group members will need to bring: appetizer, side dish, wine, or dessert. Watch for with all the details and how to RSVP.
3 April 2018 Page 3 Dear Ladies, President's Message Where did this year go? Our April luncheon will be the last for this year, so please make plans to come on out to Westwood Country Club. There will be a little club business, including the election of officers for next year, recognition of our past presidents and expression of our thanks to this year s Executive Council. We will also raffle off some wonderful items, so don t forget to bring a bit of cash! Finally, I must express my most sincere thanks to the ladies who have agreed to serve on the Executive Council for We couldn t do it without you!
