2 The Need for Impact. The communities we serve and you call home are in need. And it is time...time to make a change. Time for our children to have needed resources. Time for families to be supported. Time for communities to be strengthened. Did You Know? 65+ adults are the only age group projected to grow in Orange County over the next several years. The need for older adult social services is outpacing population growth. 1 in 5 Orange County children in fifth grade are obese. Drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death for children 1 to 4 years of age. 1 in 4 children are left home alone each day after school. Because of the Y... Jackie and her mother have been struggling for some time now. They have been jumping from shelter to shelter in search of a better opportunity and a more stable life.

3 Because of the Y... Jackie and her mother have been struggling for some time now. They have been jumping from shelter to shelter in search of a better opportunity and a more stable life. The school principal reached out to the YMCA in hopes of helping Jackie and her mother. Jackie loves coming to our program and often times gets upset if mom picks her up early. Having other children to interact with in a safe and friendly environment is a blessing to mom. I love that Jackie likes to be at the Y, she is not shy anymore, mom commented to the staff. - Child Care Director After the loss of my wife I was lacking motivation. My family encouraged me to join the Y. After 2 years here participating in exercise classes and some of the socials, I have found some great new friends. Nothing will replace my wife, but the opportunity the Y has given me to move forward has been a gift. John, Senior YMCA Member Four years ago, I made a terrifying choice to leave my daughter s father after suffering multiple cases of domestic violence, threats on my life and verbal abuse. Having the support of the YMCA was just the change I needed! The reduced cost care that the YMCA provides has given me the opportunity to build a life that I am proud of. 4 The Y is Here. We exist to improve lives and strengthen character. At our core, our cause is to strengthen communities through programs and services that advance youth development, healthy living and social responsibility all driven by passionate staff and volunteers. Youth Development Healthy Living Social Responsibility All kids deserve a safe place to go after school, a place where they are encouraged and challenged to be the best version of themselves. They deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve under the guidance of caring adults who believe in their potential. We do this through after school child care, swim, sports, youth & government, fitness programs, and camp. We help people and families build and maintain habits for a healthy spirit, mind and body in their everyday lives through health & wellness memberships, parent/ child bonding programs (Adventure Guides), senior fitness/social programs and diabetes prevention programs. Our programs are designed to meet each member where they are and provide ways to be their best. We bring together people from all backgrounds and support those who have unique needs through programs for developmentally disabled youth (Inclusion) and adults (New Horizons). In addition, we work with community partners to collect necessities through drives like collecting diapers, canned goods, backpacks, and more.
