This event will give each of us the opportunity to give, and receive from our fellow Rotarians, with a little cash donation as well. In addition, this year, the District is kicking in a match if you sign up for Rotary Direct, which is recurring giving option. Don t miss this opportunity to become a Paul Harris Fellow, or move up an additional level, with a little help from your friends. Next Week s Program We won t ask you to pay Tuesday night, we just need you to commit. How easy is that!!!! We look forward to another successful Swap Meet and a fun evening of socializing and giving with each other. (In addition, we will be hosting a club social so see.it s a win, win!!!). Upcoming Programs & Events November 10, John Sellars History Museum on the Square The History of the Heer s Building November 17, Matt O Reilly November 24, Jason Whorlow Next week Springfield Metro will welcome John Sellers, Executive Director of the History Museum on the Square. John s presentation will focus on the history of the Heer s Building. John is a Springfield native who majored in history at Southwest Missouri State. He was one of the first volunteers at the history museum when it was established as a bicentennial museum in 1976.

Metro will host the November HABIT (Homework, Attendance/ Attitude, Behavior, Initiative, and Traveling) Store on Friday, November 6 at McGregor Elementary, Home of the McGregor Tigers! McGregor Elementary 1221 W Madison Springfield, MO The store encourages students to learn healthy habits by incenting them with HABIT bucks. Volunteers are needed for the following shifts: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; 11:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.; 1:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visit Signup Genius to select a shift that works for your schedule. go/10c0544a5ad2ba7f58- habit. When you sign up, please plan to serve the entire length of the shift since the store can get busy. 3 P a ge 3 M etro News I s su e 17 Nominating Committee & Board Nominations The Nominating Committee results are in. A special thank you to all who were willing to serve. Applications for board positions are being accepted. On October 27, we announced the following club members were elected to serve on the club s nominating committee: Mike Finch Joe James Eddie Spain Sarah Watson We will conduct online voting for the following candidates from November 9 through November 13. President-Elect: Dan Cogswell Treasurer: We are accepting board applications until Friday, November 6. There are three director positions open. If you are interested in serving on the board, please contact Becky Spain so she can send an application to you. Copies will also be available at the next meeting. spainb@evangel.edu District Conference Awards L-R: Eddie Spain and District 6080 Governor Joe Beltz Every Rotarian Every Year only five clubs received this award (every member giving to the Foundation). Sustaining Members each member gives at least $100 to the Foundation. Metro is the only club to achieve this. Highest Per Capita Giving in the District $479.59/person 100% participation in End Polio Now (every member gave at least $20) Governor s Citation Award Presidential Citation Award Each year clubs have the chance to achieve certain goals. The citations are quite difficult to acquire. District Rotarian of the Year: Eddie Spain achieved this wonderful honor for his dedication to the club. Sarah is the Director of Sales for the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Oasis. Interested in joining a Rotary Bowling League? Are you interested in participating on a Rotary bowling league? 4 P a ge 4 Newsletter Title I s su e 17 Rotary T-Shirts This is the last week to order. Please complete your order form and submit it before Friday, November 6. Order forms will be available at our next meeting. Several area Rotary clubs are working together to order Rotary t-shirts at a reduced cost. We have two options to select from. Nike Golf or Harriton brands. The shirts are available in blue and white. Please place your order by November 6. Checks should be made payable to Springfield Metro. One check will be submitted for our club. Nike Golf shirts are $33 for quantities under 23 or $31 for orders of 24 r more. The Harriton brand is priced at $19.50 for quantities under 23 or $17.50 for orders of 24 or more. We can also add the tagline Springfield Metro Rotary under the logo. A copy of the order form along with photos and descriptions of the shirts will be available at our meetings leading up to the date we submit our club order on November 6.
