2 Organisation We ve had some great successes this year too We wouldn t be here without you! 2014/2015 has been one of our most exciting years yet as we celebrated our 15th anniversary! As a charity completely reliant on donations from our loyal supporters, we wouldn t be the organisation we are today without you. With your help, we have been able to make a difference to the North West community for over 15 years. In our 15th year, we attended 2,334 life-saving missions, which means we ve now given the gift of time to more than 17,000 people since our launch. We ve made huge developments to our service over the years. We took off in 1999 with one helicopter, flying five days a week. Now, we have three aircraft that operate 365 days a year with both doctors and paramedics on board. None of this could have been achieved without your help. 3 aircraft 365 days a year Our charity has benefitted from 250,000 of funds after The Association of Air Ambulances (AAA) received a 5 million donation from Libor fines. We are looking forward to spending this amount on the development of pre-hospital emergency medical education and training, which will allow us to deliver an even higher level of patient care and continue to save lives across the North West. We raised over 7million through your generous support 2014 saw our first ever Take to the Skies event including the amazing 73 year old Irene and her friend who raised over 4,000! Corporate fundraising has been flying high this year, with John Lewis and Sainsbury s joining our Charity of the Year scheme and some valiant fundraising efforts from our dedicated partners including Ryecroft Hall, which raised 20,000 through its Young at Heart party afternoons, and more than 180,000 was raised through our affinity account partners. 25% k Our golden stores are Lytham and Garstang. With a combined profit of 195,000 these two outlets contributed 25% of the total profit for last year. Our Lytham store has been our shining outlet this financial year thanks to over 300 bags donated to the store each week, gift aid donations, our loyal customer base and its 20-strong team, 18 of whom are volunteers! We reached a milestone of 75,000 members playing in our weekly lottery thanks to your support. Our Cross Bay Walk event was bigger than ever with 217 supporters taking part. It s not just our local community that has taken on challenges to help raise us up, our staff have too! Staff from across the organisation have taken on Sahara Treks, bake sales, half marathons and skydives all in the name of NWAA! 70,200 We awarded 70,200 of cash prizes to supporters throughout the year in our lottery draws. This wouldn t have been possible without your generosity and we re looking forward to creating more winners over the coming year - good luck!

3 Volunteers help give the gift of time 114 Over the last year, over 114 volunteers provided valuable skills and experience to the North West Air Ambulance Charity and have been our presence on the ground, helped raise our profile, increased awareness, driven fundraising and new initiatives, been a vital part of our retail team and assisted with crucial administration work in our head offices. Ben s Story Volunteer Ben Thompson has been a keen supporter of the North West Air Ambulance Charity for over 18 months. Ben came across the charity through his employer United Utilities. After getting involved in fundraising activities with his colleagues, Ben decided he wanted to help the charity further and donates half of his annual leave and spare time to the organisation. Ben delivers presentations about the service to many different organisations within the region such as church groups, Women s Institutes, and Rotary clubs. In addition to this, he regularly supports the charity at challenge fundraising events and even helps fuel the team in head office with tea! Commenting on his volunteering work, Ben said: I really enjoy this role and I feel that it is very important to spread the charity s message locally. The North West Air Ambulance is a wonderful charity which relies completely on the generosity of the public to keep it going 365 days of the year and I feel that my work can in turn help others. Jason s Story University Lecturer Jason Le Masurier took part in the Skipton Triathlon in April in aid of our charity, despite being told six years ago that he would never walk again. In 2007, Jason was involved in a kite surfing accident on Blackpool Beach where we treated him for skull fractures and brain injuries. Jason made a full recovery and decided to take on the 2014 Skipton Triathalon as a way of extending his gratitude. Commenting on his fundraising effort, Jason said: I hope to raise as much money as possible and provide inspiration for others who are recovering from similar injuries. This is our way of showing our gratitude and saying thank you to a wonderful organisation as without it, I would not be here today. Jason's story is one of many that demonstrates that you never know when you may require the help of the service and highlights the vital work that we continue to do. BUYS A BOX OF CHINAGRAPH PENCILS USED BY THE CREW TO QUICKLY PLOT THEIR JOURNEY AND NOTE IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHATEVER THE WEATHER CAN ALLOW US TO BUY A PRIMARY RESPONSE BAG TO CARRY THE DRUGS AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT OUR CREW NEEDS TO TREAT PATIENTS IN MAJOR TRAUMA INCIDENTS BUYS A MONITOR DEFIBRILLATOR THAT ENABLES US TO RESPOND QUICKLY TO A PATIENT IN CARDIAC ARREST, TRIPLING THEIR CHANCES OF SURVIVAL Oliver was 10 years old when he left school for the day, he was walking down Bolton Road in Bury when a horse box detached from its vehicle and crushed him, severely injuring his whole body, our paramedics arrived and flew him to the best hospital to treat his injuries. Oliver lost a leg in the accident but the North West Air Ambulance Charity saved his life. He now has a prosthetic leg and is enjoying secondary school. At our carol concert in December 2014 Oliver attended and was the first person to light a candle.

5 Zoe s Story My name is Zoe Goodwin and I am raising money for the North West Air Ambulance in memory of my beautiful fiancé Sean William Foden. Myself and Sean had been engaged for 8 years and counting down to our wedding day which would have been on the 16th August On the 7th May 2013 my world crashed from around me when Sean was involved in a fatal motorbike accident on the A556 Hartford bypass in Northwich, Cheshire. The North West Air Ambulance is a charity very close to our heart, which Sean also donated generously too himself, with Sean being a biker and myself being brought up in a family of bikers we know how important it is to keep the helicopters flying. In a split second unexpected things can happen that will change your life forever, it is in these moments that the NWAA charity will be at the right place at the right time saving lives. Knowing the money I raise could possibly save a life and all in Sean s memory will keep me strong. It s time to make my boy as proud of me as I am him and I couldn t do that without our family and friends help. Thank you to everyone for all of your support, I really couldn t do it without you all.
