2 DNA Sponsorship Overview The Downtown Northampton Association (DNA) strives to improve the business and cultural strength of downtown Northampton through investments in programming, beautification and advocacy. We represent the interests of the downtown business and commercial community, and in doing so, we work to insure the continued vibrance of downtown Northampton. Sponsoring one of Downtown Northampton's special events or programs offers unique opportunities. It enables you to market and position your company to a diverse array of people and offers high visibility for your business. Sponsorship is a great way to demonstrate your commitment to the community. Within our sponsorship opportunities are a variety of special events and programs you can choose from, aimed at providing you with maximum exposure and visibility for your investment. Sponsorship Policies We ask that a deposit of at least 25% of the total amount be submitted within 30 days of submission of the Sponsorship Application Form in order to secure sponsorship. In order to receive all of the entitlements listed, sponsors are asked to submit all required payments and materials by the deadlines indicated in the within materials, except as otherwise arranged. The DNA distributes a monthly brochure listing planned events each month, with a map of event locations. These brochures are available throughout downtown, on a monthly basis, and provide an opportunity to demonstrate your community support in front of a wide audience. Arts Night Out also includes some of downtown's most favorite festivals: the Ice Art Festival, Chalk Art Festival and En Plein Air Festival. Year-round sponsorship of Arts Night Out ensures that your business will be represented at each of those events as well. Sculptors are situated throughout the downtown corridor, and maps of sculpting locations are provided to guide visitors. Your support will enable this chilly event to continue! 4 Flowering Hanging Baskets (Mid-May - early fall) Sponsorship deadline: April 1 When warmer weather is on the horizon, the DNA welcomes spring with hanging baskets decorating the downtown community (and with the help of the City of Northampton, we ensure that these baskets are watered and cared for throughout the year). We have gradually expanded the reach of these baskets, covering Main Street and now including State Street as well. Your support will insure that these baskets continue to decorate downtown; additional sponsorship will allow us to increase the number of baskets we hang! LEAD SPONSOR $5,000 BENEFITS: GOLD PARTNERING SPONSOR $3,000 BENEFITS: SILVER Island Planters (mid-may - early fall) Sponsorship deadline: April 1 Spring also brings the return of the island planters to the traffic islands from Smith College down to King Street. The DNA works with Landscapes, LLC to design, plant and care for the planters throughout the spring and summer, and if weather permits, into the fall. Your support allows us to continue to decorate downtown with these annual plantings, and to plan for expansion of these plantings with new designs and additional planters. LEAD SPONSOR $5,000 BENEFITS: GOLD PARTNERING SPONSOR $1,000 BENEFITS: SILVER Sidewalk Sales (July 25-28, 2019) Sponsorship deadline: June 7 One of downtown's most anticipated annual events, Northampton's Downtown Sidewalk Sales feature massive merchant discounts up and down Main Street, highlighted each year with different entertainment: live radio broadcasts, live music and more. The DNA coordinates Downtown Sidewalk Sales, registering participating merchants, publicizing the event in local media (print, radio and tv, as appropriate), and coordinating live entertainment. 5 Summer Block Party (August 10, 2019) Sponsorship deadline: June 1 It's the coolest party to hit the middle of Main Street, with live entertainment, outdoor seating, a variety of food options and more! The DNA handles all aspects of this event - from the logistics of closing down Main Street and providing police details to direct traffic, to hiring entertainers - from balloon animals to a live salsa band, we welcome everyone! Your support will enable us to keep the party going, with the goal of expanding: more entertainers, more food options, more advertising, more of it all! This year we are looking to expand our Summer Block Party with the addition of afternoon programming in lower Main Street. We are working with an internationally-experienced, locally-based performer to create a unique line-up of buskers. These creations are judged, and winning designs chosen. The DNA coordinates this festival, bringing the artists downtown, and advertising the festival to the local community and beyond. Your support will help sustain this festival, with the goal to expand, bringing in additional artists and increasing our marketing reach. 6 Holiday Lights Sponsorship deadline: October 1 Downtown Northampton's holiday season is kept warm and glowing throughout the winter months with beautiful warm, white lights wrapped around the trees on our Main Street corridor, and down some of our side streets. The DNA works with a local lighting company to design the holiday lights, wrap our downtown trees, and keep the downtown corridor basking in the warm holiday glow throughout the winter season. The Holiday Lights are one of the DNA's largest annual expenses, and your support will enable us to continue to provide this benefit to the community, and plan for future expansion: more trees wrapped, more downtown streets included - more lights downtown!
