This is an exciting time to join Breast Cancer Now. Formed in 2015 from the merger of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign, we are the UK s largest breast cancer research charity. We fund the brightest minds to discover how to prevent breast cancer, how to detect it earlier and how to treat it effectively at every stage. With 50,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer every year, and over 11,500 women dying from the disease, we urgently need to raise more money to save lives. More information on our research can be found at The Fundraising Division will raise over 26m in 2015/2016, but we need to grow income significantly over the next five years in order to fund the scientific breakthroughs that will make breast cancer a survivable disease. Community Fundraising will play a pivotal role in this income growth. We have

2 huge potential in this area, particularly from those supporters raising money in memory of a loved one lost or to support a loved one through treatment and recovery. Breast Cancer Now takes a relationship fundraising approach, building relationships through phone and face to face contact to understand supporters motivations; establish how they want to raise money; engage their networks; and support them to do this. The Senior Community Fundraising Manager role will spend 80% of its time working directly with supporters who have the potential to raise over 1,000. We expect the postholder to work with a portfolio of active supporters per annum, building relationships with them to deliver increased and repeat support, and maximising all the other ways they can help the charity (campaigning, awareness raising etc). We are seeking an experienced, skilled and enthusiastic Community Fundraiser with a demonstrable track record of building relationships with supporters to deliver growing income and engagement. The successful postholder needs to have a passion for working with supporters, and a complete commitment to relationship fundraising as an approach. The Community and Events Fundraising team The Community and Events team develops relationships with supporters who: Organise their own fundraising this can cover a huge range of activity such as cake sales, being sponsored to do something or give something up, holding a quiz night or a ball etc. Join or form a Breast Cancer Now local group Choose Breast Cancer Now to support via employee fundraising in their local company Adopt Breast Cancer Now as the beneficiary of their school, club, association etc. Support Breast Cancer Now through their student RAG fundraising or as students taking part in an event Take part in a challenge event such as runs, bike rides, treks, parachutes jumps or extreme challenges like Tough Mudder Using expert relationship funding skills, the team looks to build excellent relationships with these supporters, finding out their motivations for supporting Breast Cancer Now and empowering them to raise money in the way they want. We will also seek to offer other relevant ways to support such as cross selling direct debit giving, legacies etc. and non-financial ways to support such as campaigning and raising awareness of our public health prevention messages. New supporters can pro-actively approach the charity to offer to support us, or are recruiting by our Now is Good campaign which delivers digital outreach marketing to potential Community supporters. We are about to launch an innovative Funds in Memory website, giving supporters the ability to create their own, personalised in memory pages where friends and family can make donations, link fundraising activities like runs, and leave personal messages. Our goal is to have long term, multi-faceted relationships with supporters, which maximise all the ways they can help us. Our average Community gift is currently 303, which we believe can grow significantly. A large proportion of our Community and Events supporters have a personal link to our cause they are raising money in memory of a loved one or to support a loved one through treatment and recovery. A key feature of our drive to grow income will be to understand these motivations

3 more thoroughly and find ways of engaging greater numbers of people with a personal link to breast cancer and building relationships with them. Our challenge events programme includes a Virgin Money London Marathon team of over 200 runners, and a RideLondon team of over 230 cyclists. We also have our own London-Cambridge bike ride which generates c 200k pa. In total around 6,000 people a year take part in an event for us, covering activities such as skydiving, extreme challenges like Tough Mudder, treks around the UK and international challenges. The Community and Events team benefits from a Marketing and Analysis team of three posts who provide expert analysis of activities and communications to improve results and develop new engagement approaches. We work closely with our colleagues in Digital Marketing and will shortly be increasing our Digital Fundraising capacity, which will act as a resource to support this role. In total the Community and Events team will raise 2.2m from Community supporters, 2.2m from Challenge Events and 575k from Student fundraising in 2015/2016. The Community and Events team currently has 22 posts, four of whom report to the Assistant Director: Two Community Engagement Managers who report to the Assistant Director Eight Community Engagement Officers (two based in Scotland), each covering a region of the UK A Marketing and Analysis Manager who reports to the Assistant Director, and two Marketing and Analysis Executives A Senior Challenge Events and Student Fundraising Manager, who reports to the Assistant Director and seven Challenge Events and Student Fundraising posts The Senior Community Fundraising Manager will report to the Assistant Director of Community and Events. Purpose of the role To maximise net income and supporter engagement from leading relationships with a portfolio of Community supporters raising over 1,000 pa to enable Breast Cancer Now to deliver its vision of making breast cancer a survivable disease by Key accountabilities To carry out initial phone conversations with supporters who contact Breast Cancer Now wanting to raise money for us to establish a rapport; establish their motivations for supporting us; finding out how best they want to support us; and assessing their potential To build long term, high quality relationships with a portfolio of supporters with the potential to raise 1,000+ pa via phone, face to face and contact. As part of this to maximise all the ways they can help Breast Cancer Now including growing their fundraising, repeating it, involving their networks, and taking part in other fundraising activities (events, regular giving, pledging legacies etc)

4 To engage Breast Cancer Now s Community supporters in helping build the Breast Cancer Now brand and deliver key public health messages. Any other duties as directed by and agreed with line manager General responsibilities Devise and implement development plans for each supporter in the role s portfolio, looking to maximise all the ways the supporter can help Breast Cancer Now and build a long term holistic relationship with them Actively cross sell relevant ways the supporter can help Breast Cancer Now, including nonfinancial (campaigning/awareness raising etc) as well as financial, working in close collaboration with colleagues to do so. Produce regular budget projections versus target for the role s portfolio of supporters including recommendations for corrective action as required Produce regular monitoring reports and analysis against KPIs as required by the Assistant Director of Community and Events Fundraising Build relationships at all levels to ensure the work of the Community and Events team is understood and actively supported by other teams, and work actively with other colleagues to deliver wider organisational goals. Ensure that own time and interactions are managed most effectively for the greatest organisational return Ensure all fundraising activity is carried out in adherence with charity law, regulations and Breast Cancer Now best practice standards Be an ambassador at events, supporting the delivery of Breast Cancer Now s vision and ensuring that the charities profile and reputation are enhanced.
