2 ABOUT US Girls Out Loud is a multi-award winning social enterprise with a charitable Foundation, managed by Forever Manchester. The organisation is on a determined mission to raise the aspirations of teenage girls in the UK and beyond! We do this by creating and delivering early intervention programmes for girls, from 2 hours to 12 months in duration. Our programmes focus on improving confidence, self-belief and resilience. Girls completing our programmes are empowered, self-assured and ready to rock! Over the past eight years we ve worked with more than 38 schools in the North West and impacted the lives of over 5,000 girls, but school funding to support our vital work is quickly disappearing. We now need engagement from the wider community to secure investment in the next generation of female managers, leaders and business women. We know British teenager s mental wellbeing is amongst the worst in the world and the UK s Generation Z (15-21 year olds) are amongst the unhappiest anywhere. For girls, the picture is even more concerning: 1 in 4 girls will self-harm before they leave secondary school Girls as young as 5 are now worried about their weight. By the age of 10, 80% of girls will be on a diet to change their body shape and emulate the images they see in the media every day. Sexual harassment in school is a daily occurrence for many girls and staying safe online is now a constant pressure. Girls are now 3 times more likely to suffer with anxiety and depression than boys and in the past 12 months alone, teen girl suicides have tripled. Girls tend to outperform boys academically but this does not necessarily translate into confidence, aspiration or career success. We need to invest in our girls now and show them a better way, introduce them to smart female role models, let them know they ARE good enough, empower them to believe and inject them with some good old fashioned GUMPTION!

3 BIG SISTERS CAN BE FRAME-BREAKING. Our core product is a 12 month structured mentoring programme called BIG SISTER. We recruit; train and support women from all walks of life to step up and volunteer to mentor a young girl, helping her find her voice, become visible and expand her horizons. Interestingly, the women who become Big Sisters share this personal development journey as it is almost impossible to inspire a young woman to step up, think big, ask questions for herself, get out of her comfort zone and become more visible without doing this yourself! WHY THIS, WHY NOW. The Shining Stars Ball is our opportunity to celebrate our achievements to date. We want to recognise some of our top ambassadors, advocates and supporters and congratulate the inspirational young women who have worked with Girls Out Loud and are now shining stars. We need to raise funds to continue our mission to inspire and support the most vulnerable girls in our school system. Namely, the girls sitting in the middle and simply cruising, looking for validation in all the wrong places, suffering with mental health issues, under achieving and becoming invisible. It costs 1,000 to support a girl on our 12 month Big Sister programme and our aim is to support a minimum of 250 girls during All the funds raised from the event will be allocated to this ambitious goal. 4 WHY SPONSOR? Girls Out Loud is the leading provider of programmes targeting teen girls in the region. We have a strong brand, good social media presence and a wellpositioned website. We are the go-to organisation for the media when it comes to commenting on all things relating to girls and our Founder and CEO Jane Kenyon is a well-respected female champion, author, coach, motivational speaker, campaigner and trainer working with both girls and women throughout the UK. 5 ABOUT THE EVENT Building on the huge success of our inaugural Ball in September 2017, where we raised around 20k on the night and created some awesome partnerships with a diverse range of organisations post ball, we are ready to rock the house again at the iconic Hilton Hotel in Manchester on Wednesday 2nd October We do hope you will join us? We have already secured the award-winning BBC Broadcaster Sam Walker to lead the evening again and the uber cool, top female DJ, Key 103 s Hattie Pearson will be at the decks to ensure we kick off our shoes and dance the night away after the award celebrations are in the bag. The evening will be inspirational, high energy and fun as once again we honour some amazing people and share the stories of young women who have participated in our programmes and are now well on their way to being role models to others. This is not a standard corporate event nor is it a well tried, predictable and long awards dinner. It is a celebration of social impact; it is about the girls, our volunteers and all the organisations that make it possible for us to do what we do change lives! We have lots of surprises in store, our creative juices are flowing, the food will be sublime and we will do all we can to make sure you and your team/table have a fantastic night alongside raising some much needed funds to support our work across the North West. 7 THE RACHEL STEVENSON SCHOOL ADVOCATE AWARD This award is given in memory of Rachel Stevenson, one of our first Big Sisters who was instrumental in opening the door to our first long term school partnership and died in 2013, way too soon. In creating this award, she continues to be part of our legacy. The school advocate is an individual who is taking our message to schools far and wide. TOP FEMALE ROLE MODEL This award is given to a woman in the media spotlight who carries the baton for female empowerment and retains her authenticity under pressure.
