1 September 2017 Dear CSE Family and Friends, Welcome back for those of you returning to CSE and welcome to our family and friends who are new to CSE! We hope you and your family had a wonderful summer! We are looking forward to a great year at Cranberry Station Elementary. We wanted to take this opportunity to let you know what it is that the CSE PTA does, who it is comprised of, and how you can help PTA Sponsored Events, Programs and Fundraisers Events Programs Fundraisers Other Back to School Family Picnic & Outdoor Movie Birthday Books CSE Spirit Gear (Available for purchase all year) Welcome Back Luncheon for Faculty and Staff Harvest Party Kindergarten Tote Bags and Agendas for Grades 1-5 Kids Stuff Coupon Books Dinner for Faculty and Staff for Parent/Teacher Conference Night Scholastic Book Fair Family Night Brain Pop & Brain Pop Jr Chick Fil A Calendars Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week Movie Nights Quaver Music Education Holiday Bizarre Players Family Fun Night Cultural Arts Assemblies Yankee Candle Spring Carnival PBIS & Project Aces Prizes Brick Bingo Have an idea? Attend a meeting! We are always looking for new ideas regarding events and fundraisers. Meetings are scheduled to be held the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30PM in the CSE Media Center. Should there be a need to re-schedule a meeting; every effort will be made to notify the community prior to the scheduled meeting date via and social media. The exception to this is in the event that CCPS are closed due to inclement weather, in which case, notification will go out as soon as the meeting is re-scheduled. Who are we? We are parents, faculty, staff, grandparents and friends. Anyone over the age of 18 can be a member of the CSE PTA. Becoming a PTA Member does not mean that you are obligated to volunteer; it simply means that you support what we are doing and have the right to vote at PTA meetings on topics such as events, programs and fundraising. Our PTA is a local chapter organized under the authority of the Maryland Congress of Parents and Teachers, Inc. (Maryland PTA), a branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers (National PTA). Being part of a national organization, we must pay annual dues. To offset these dues, we have a membership drive. Please consider becoming a member of the PTA and help us achieve our membership goal! Membership dues are just $5! Speaking of volunteers We are always in need of volunteers. They say it takes a village to raise a child imagine how many volunteers it takes to run all of the wonderful PTA sponsored events, programs and fundraisers!

2 In this packet is a volunteer form. Please consider filling it out and letting us know the areas in which you d like to volunteer. More information will come out closer to the dates of our events on the exact need for volunteers. Please note that volunteer training is online this year: What Else Does The Board Do? A few board members are also parent representatives on behalf of CSE serving on CCPS Councils. This helps bring a unique perspective to our PTA meetings as we learn information from serving on these councils. Again, we are looking forward to a great year at CSE. To learn more about our upcoming events, goals, and how you can help, attend our first PTA meeting of the school year on Wednesday September 13 th at 6:30pm. Stay up to date on events and meetings by following us on Facebook at: Cranberry Station Elementary School PTA If you have any questions, concerns or ideas to pass along, please do not hesitate to reach out to a member of the PTA board. 5 Dear CSE Families, Welcome to the school year! As you know, the PTA depends on our members to provide the financial and volunteer backbone to supplement the many exciting activities we have planned for this year and we cannot wait to get started!! This school year, the CSE PTA is trying to limit the number of fundraisers that come home with our children. While we have decided to scale back on sending our children home with fundraisers such as catalogs, it s important to remember we still need to raise funds for our school and students. PTA fundraising allows us to support: Student Agendas Kindergarten Tote Bags Classroom Programs such as Brain Pop, Brain Pop Jr, and Quaver Music Birthday Books Cultural Arts Assemblies Family Events And Much, Much More! With budget cuts and the loss of our Title I status this year, it s necessary more than ever for the PTA to raise money for our children and the school. This school year, Cranberry Station Elementary has over 500 students enrolled, and our goal is to raise approximately $20,000. Any amount you feel comfortable giving towards that effort will be greatly appreciated. If you feel compelled, please complete the attached donation form and return it with your tax-deductible donation with your child. Checks can be made payable to Cranberry Station PTA (CSE PTA). We understand that monetary donations are not an option for everyone, so if you are not able to contribute via a monetary donation we hope you will consider donating your time. Best Regards, Cranberry Station PTA
