7 Psych Emergency Dept PMEG CPNP-run PMEG in the Psych ED is New this year Other existing PMEGs include Eating Disorder Unit, 3rd Floor Neuroscience, Adolescent Unit Perks of being in CPNP? CPNP members get first priority for volunteering Opportunity to interact with and teach different groups of psychiatric inpatients Valuable patient care experiences early on Looks great on your CV

8 Outreach Committee - Opioid presentation to local high schools - last year we presented to two local high schools in the spring about the dangers of using opioids illegally - very rewarding experience reaching out to teenagers - great opportunity to work on presentation skills to a different age group

14 A Pharmacist s Role As a clinical pharmacy practitioner (CPP) seeing patients in clinic, you begin to ask: What is the benefit/risks of duplicate therapy (i.e. 2 antidepressants)? Which agent is the patient seeking the most benefit? How should we cross-taper one of the antidepressants to simplify the regimen? What should we communicate with the PCP in regards to duplicate therapy? How does a patient s medical comorbidities and other medications affect/contribute to their current psychiatric state? How can we either simply the regimen, choose less expensive but effective agents, and/or investigate options for patient to be able to afford her medications (PAPs, drug discount cards, picking generics with similar mechanisms)?
