Community Outreach Internship NEW! The NCHS Community Outreach Department is seeking highly motivated individuals to join the team! The Community Outreach Intern will assist in outreach activities and community events that increase community awareness of the services and programs provided by North County Health Services. Through training, mentorship, and routine interactions, interns learn new skills, expand their networks, and achieve personal and professional growth. Time Commitment: One semester or 3 month minimum commitment, schedule is flexible to availability of volunteer (required at least 12 activities per month), and quarterly volunteer meetings. Preferred Skills: Experience in public speaking, outgoing personality, ability to demonstrate teamwork, display professionalism and excellent customer service.

Agricultural Health Internship The NCHS Agricultural Health Program increases access to healthcare and resources for San Marcos agricultural community. The intern will assist on projects concerning the health and wellness of San Marcos agricultural community. Join the team and help promote health in your community today! Time Commitment: One semester or 3 month minimum commitment, flexible schedule (Monday-Friday 8-5 PM) with an 8-10 hour weekly commitment, and quarterly volunteer meetings. Preferred Skills: Bilingual in Spanish, reliable to adhere to schedule, organizational skills, computer proficiency, great attitude, and an interest in the community.
3 CLINICAL My Health & Clinic Support Volunteer Are you interested in healthcare or pursuing a career in the medical field? Gain important interpersonal patient communication skills, training, and experience by volunteering in one of our clinics. The My Health & Clinic Support Volunteer will work alongside staff to promote a comfortable patient atmosphere in our exam rooms and promote the MyHealth Portal so patients may communicate with their health team. Through this opportunity volunteers may gain shadow opportunities with our providers. Time Commitment: 6 month minimum commitment, flexible schedule with a 6 hour weekly commitment (Monday-Friday 8-5 PM), and quarterly all volunteer meetings. Preferred Skills: Bilingual in Spanish, have prior experience in health care or currently enrolled in an academic program concerning health care. Clinic Interpreter Volunteer (Spanish, ASL) NEW! Are you bilingual in Spanish or ASL (American Sign Language) and are interested in healthcare or pursuing a career in the medical field? Gain important interpersonal communication skills and experience by volunteering in one of our clinics as a clinic interpreter volunteer. The interpreter volunteer will medically interpret to facilitate communication between medical staff, patients, and family members. Time Commitment: 3 month minimum commitment, based on need, and quarterly all volunteer meetings. Requirements: NCHS volunteer application, 2- step interview, language evaluation, TB test and background check Preferred Skills: Bilingual in Spanish or ASL, have prior experience in health care or currently enrolled in an academic program concerning health care.
