The funds you raise for Walk & Roll 2015 will support the American Cancer Society s mission to save lives by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FINISH THE FIGHT. HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR FUNDRAISING SUCCESS: Set a challenging fundraising goal. Aim high! Your team will enjoy a tremendous sense of achievement when you reach or exceed your goal together. Make it personal. Real-life stories motivate people to give, so make them part of your fundraising asks. Encourage team members to send a letter or to family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors about their commitment to Walk & Roll. If you re leading a returning team, set a group goal of reaching out to twice as many people as you did last year. HELP YOUR TEAM SUCCEED! Team members can double or even triple their donations by finding out if their employers match charitable gifts. Donors should check with their companies, too. Top Family and Friends Teams: Recognize your supporters. Team members can use our Walk & Roll pledge cards to honor donors by creating a Wall of Hope at work or in the community. You can also thank donors by name on your team fundraising page. Partner with local businesses. Check with local retailers who may also be willing to sponsor a Wall of Hope with in-store donations. Make change. Encourage your team to place a Walk & Roll coin can/jar at work so colleagues can donate loose change to support your team. Fill a water bottle with dimes for a quick $100; a little spare change can add up to a lot! Offer dress down days. Ask employers to approve a casual dress or jeans day in exchange for donations. 3 PLANNING A GREAT DAY Team members who raise $100 or more will receive an official Walk & Roll T-shirt. Tents and tent space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. More information will be provided through s and the event website. All tent locations must be reserved through the Society office. Please call to reserve your tent spot today. Arrange for your team to meet in a specific area the morning of the event. Plan a picnic and enjoy the entertainment provided. Remind your team to wear broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, sunglasses, and a hat. Encourage survivors and caregivers on your team to visit the Survivor Tent for activities and gifts. Make copies of the route map and directions for everyone on your team. The walk route is stroller and wheelchair accessible. Water will be provided along the route at rest stops. PLEDGE COLLECTION TIPS All Walk & Roll event donations raised online are automatically processed and credited to your team. If you are collecting pledges in cash or check form, please follow these steps to ensure proper handling of your donations: Print your name on each pledge or donation form to ensure you/your team receives appropriate credit. Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society. Donations are tax-deductible. Be sure to ask donors who contribute $20 or more (via cash or check) for their mailing address. They will be mailed a receipt. Please do not bundle all team money together. Keep each participant s pledges with their own registration form. We encourage you to turn in all donations as you receive them. Any funds not turned in by event day can be brought to the registration tent the morning of the event. Donations collected after the event should be mailed by June 19, 2015 to: American Cancer Society, Inc. Attn: Walk & Roll Chicago 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1200 Chicago, IL Have matching gifts? Make sure all team members matching gift forms have been filled out and processed correctly and mailed to the address above. EVENT POLICIES Walk & Roll 2015 will take place RAIN OR SHINE. Please plan accordingly. The event is alcohol-free and tobacco-free. Service animals are permitted; all other animals are not allowed. Helmets and protective gear is required for bikers and skaters. Let s keep the park clean! Please use the appropriate receptacles for your trash.

4 2015 WALK & ROLL RECOGNITION CELEBRATION Our Second Annual Walk & Roll Recognition Celebration is our opportunity to thank our committed Walk & Roll sponsors and community partners. We will recognize our top sponsors, fundraising teams, and individuals at a luncheon in September We encourage all teams to focus on fundraising this season for the opportunity to join us! Walk & Roll will honor teams in the following areas: Sponsors and media partners Top three corporate/business teams Top three community teams (teams of family and friends, organizations, clubs, schools, churches, etc.) Rookie team of the year (awarded to the top fundraising team that has never participated in a Walk & Roll event) Each team recognized at the celebration will be notified by the Walk & Roll staff in advance and will receive two tickets for per team.
