As a collective group, more than 8,000 Kiwanis clubs in more than 90 countries address worldwide issues by Serving the Children of the World. The organization s International Office is in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

5 Objects of Kiwanis To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship. To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities. To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill. 6 Worldwide Service Focus Young Children: Priority One is a program supported by Kiwanis International and thousands of clubs worldwide. It focuses on maternal and child health, child care and development, parent education and support, and safety and pediatric trauma. The Worldwide Service Project in 1995 was Kiwanisfamily initiative in partnership with the United Nations Children s Fund (UNICEF) to virtually eliminate the world s leading cause of preventable mental retardation, iodine deficiency disorders (IDD). The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis & UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. It is administered by the Kiwanis International Board of Trustees. Our District is 1 of 48 districts in Kiwanis International. Our Division is one of 27 divisions in the district. Our Club is one of 8 clubs in our division.

You may make up an absence by attending a board meeting, club project, division council meeting, convention, committee meeting, or by attending an inter-club meeting. A leave of absence can be granted by the board of directors for up to six months. Perfect attendance tabs are awarded for each 12 consecutive months of 100 percent attendance. Attendance years do not have to be consecutive.

27 Kiwanis Club of Springtime City in Clearwater, Florida NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION PROGRAM 27 Club Dues and Club Administration How Dues Are Spent (Admin Funds) Club dues includes district dues of $30.00, Kiwanis International dues of $42.00, Kiwanis Magazine of $8.00, Liability Insurance of $12, Birthday Gifts to KI and Florida District Foundations of $5 each, Division 12 dues of $4 per member which totals: $106. Our club also provides approximately $3,000 for Kiwanis Education for our delegates and members related to attendance at Zone Conference, District and International Conventions. Speaker meals and gift are paid from Admin funds. Total Annual Dues: $ or $20 per month
28 Club s Banking Accounts - ADMIN Kiwanis requires its clubs to maintain separate accounts: Administrative and Project Administrative pays for routine stationery, postage; membership pins and such awards; speaker and guests' meals at club meetings. In addition, registration expenses for members attending zone, district and international events including some funds for travel for delegates. The sources of administrative funds are members' dues and the weekly 50/50, Fines as well as an occasional fundraiser. When a member brings a potential member, the meal fee is paid by the club. 29 Club s Banking Accounts PROJECT Kiwanis requires its clubs to maintain separate accounts: We maintain two accounts for club funds. Service and money are the means by which we operate for our Service Projects, The service projects account is the heart and soul of our club. These funds are solicited from and 100% circulated back into the community. We have fundraisers to raise the service funds: Dinner Auction, High School Track Meet and a Garage Sale. 31 Kiwanis Club of Springtime City Foundation, Inc. Our club has a foundation which is a vehicle for those in our community to make a tax deductible donation. Endowments to honor a loved one or support a favorite concern, like scholarships, are honored. The Puleo Endowment is a gift of $50, and only the income from the fund is used to help fund SPC scholarships. Most importantly, 100% of the donated funds go directly to service projects benefiting the local community. None of the funds are used for club administration nor are salaries or commissions paid. 32 Kiwanis Club of Springtime City in Clearwater, Florida NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION PROGRAM 32 Conventions and Conferences 2013 Vancouver, BC 2014 Macau, China 2015 Indianapolis (100 th Year) 2016 Toronto The Annual Kiwanis International Convention is an excellent event, which allows clubs from around the world to exchange ideas, participate in forums, and share fellowship. The (Florida) District Convention is the kickoff for the new Kiwanis year, which runs from October to September. Club officers and interested members attend. The (Tampa Bay) Zone Conference gives members an opportunity to attend classes and forums about club operation, committees and other exciting topics. Kiwanis Education for members & club leaders
