2 The HIBU wishes Jonathan Feddock, MD the best of luck in Ironman Triathlon Jonathan Feddock, MD, Radiation Oncologist specializing in the treatment of breast, gynecologic and pediatric cancers, hopes to pass a lot of athletes at the Ironman triathlon Aug. 24 in Lousiville in order to raise money for new radiation therapy services and equipment at Markey Cancer Center. Ironman is a swim-bike-run mile race that tests athletes endurance to the max. Officials at Ironman have arranged for Feddock to be the last athlete to enter the Ohio River for the start of the event the swim portion of the race. Feddock plans to pass most of the approximately 3,000 athletes during the triathlon. Donors can pledge a certain amount of money for every athlete Feddock passes. You can support the cause with your donation. Feddock is aiming to raise $200,000 to improve the radiation implant services (brachytherapy) and create a combined implant suite whereby new equipment and a centralized procedural and recovery area will allow for better cancer care with higher cure rates, fewer side effects and better efficiency. McGuire, a Carpenters and Joiners Union secretary. By 1893, more than half the states were observing a "Labor Day" on one day or another, and a bill to establish a federal holiday was passed by Congress in President Grover Cleveland signed the bill soon afterward, designating the first Monday in September as Labor Day. Today, Americans by the millions celebrate Labor Day with a day off -- at backyard barbecues or with coastal celebrations at US beaches, Millions more will opt to take advantage of great end-of-season savings at Labor Day sales at local shopping malls coast to coast. Please see your manager for more information. UK HealthCare will be hosting its annual gift basket silent auction during the picnic on Aug. 21. All proceeds from the auction are donated to the UK HealthCare Human Needs Fund, which provides assistance to UK patients with needs associated with unexpected health issues. Gift baskets can be donated by department, group or individuals the more baskets the better. This is a great chance to get creative and have fun while also helping out a great cause. 4 It s Move-In Time! This year UK is welcoming students and their families during four major move-in days. Move-In combined with current construction occurring on campus will impact parking, transit, and transportation routes throughout the campus at various times. Among the more than 6,000 students moving to campus housing, about 1,100 students moved in Saturday, August 16; 1,700 were expected Wednesday, August 20; around 2,200 will move in Friday, August 22; and another 1,100 are expected Saturday, August 23. Safety is always a priority at UK and especially now when thousands of new students are transitioning to campus at a time when vehicle and pedestrian traffic are heavy and streets are re-routed. UK Police will be out in full force to assist with Move-In, and everyone is urged to be patient and travel safely. Thank you in advance for your patience and help during this process. When requesting your flights to Kim or Pete, look at your work schedule and at your conference schedule to give us an idea of what time you would like to leave Lexington and then what time you would like to leave the conference.
