1 The Promise The American Cancer Society s eighth annual Key Gala to benefit the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Park Plaza Castle. Join us as we celebrate the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston and honor James Hoyes, President of EMD Serono, Inc. James Hoyes is dedicated to finding innovative first-in-class therapies to fight cancer. He is president of leading biopharmaceutical company EMD Serono, which received CEO Cancer Gold Standard accreditation in 2011, recognizing the organization's commitment to reducing the risk of cancer for their employees and their families by promoting healthy lifestyle choices and encouraging early detection. As someone who has lost a loved one to cancer, Mr. Hoyes is strongly committed to patient groups like the American Cancer Society and supports their efforts for people living with this devastating disease. Jim is a member of the American Cancer Society s CEOs Against Cancer and was named one of the 100 Most Inspiring People in the Pharmaceutical Industry by PharmaVOICE in Mr. Hoyes is dedicated to supporting initiatives that can help make a difference in cancer prevention, treatment and finding a cure, and EMD Serono has a rich history as a key corporate partner to the American Cancer Society, including support of the Daffodil Days campaign and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. In addition, the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston provides more than a temporary home away from home; it provides a support network for patients and caregivers that is unparalleled. Jacqueline, a former guest of the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston, put it best when she said, The Hope Lodge bond is no different from the experience students have living in communal housing working toward the same goals.
