The WakeMed Foundation s purpose is to give back to the health system, our patients, staff and our community in numerous ways throughout the year. Together with our supporters, we are making a meaningful difference in the health & well-being of patients, families and our community. We celebrate the generosity and compassion of our Society of 1961 members at the WakeMed Foundation Appreciation Gala, which brings together our most generous donors and sponsors for a night of giving thanks and sharing success stories. Nearly 1000 people are expected at the event in About the Society of 1961 Named in honor of WakeMed s founding year, the Society of 1961 members have contributed more than $29 million to support a wide variety of capital and special projects throughout the WakeMed system. Donors who contribute $1,500 or more to the WakeMed Foundation annual fund are designated each year as members of the Society of Together, the collective gifts from Society of 1961 donors are truly changing and saving lives.
