7 Why should we care about the ACA? Did you know: 1 in 5 adults approximately 43.8 million Americans experience mental illness in a given year. 1 in 25 about 13.6 million Americans live with a serious mental illness. Approximately 60% of adults with a mental illness received no mental health services within the previous year. Individuals living with a serious mental illness face an increase risk of having chronic medical conditions. Why should we care about the ACA? Did you know: And of most concern. Many Peers have some familiarity with the ACA and Medi-Cal. Not as many Peers have had direct experience with the enrollment process. Peers have varying degrees of understanding about CHURN and how it effects the people being supported. There has not been a solid connection between enrolling in health insurance and how that can reduce the life span disparity. Essential Health Benefits: Ambulatory Services (outpatient medical care).
