2 18 th Annual Taste of Kingston Please join us for a delicious and family-friendly event this summer. On Sunday, July 24, 2016, the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) presents the 18 th Annual Taste of Kingston to our downtown community in support of those living with and affected by diabetes. This unique event brings the community together in a family-friendly environment to enjoy the many flavours that Kingston has to offer, while raising funds in support of the CDA s local diabetes programs and services, research, education and advocacy initiatives. For 2016, Taste of Kingston restaurants will be asked to offer a diabetes-friendly food option on their menu and participate in a Best of Taste public voting competition at the CDA s main event tent. More than 5,000 community members are expected to attend. Walkways will be optimized for wheelchair accessibility. We encourage all members of the public to come and enjoy our 18 th annual event! Did you know? One Canadian is diagnosed with diabetes every three minutes 1.5 million Canadians have type 2 diabetes and don't know it Diabetes is a cause of 30 per cent of strokes, 40 per cent of heart attacks, 50 per cent of kidney failure requiring dialysis and 70 per cent of all non-traumatic leg and foot amputations Your support will help us continue the work of the CDA. Across Canada, the CDA: offers educational programs and support services; develops resources for health-care professionals on best practices to care for people with diabetes; advocates with those affected by diabetes to governments, schools and workplaces; and, funds research to improve treatments and find a cure. Help us make a difference for people living with diabetes in our community!
