2 I Want to Visit Disney World! Angus is a quiet 6-year-old who likes to read and watch his favorite show, Beyblade. He s a big sports fan and he enjoys watching football, baseball and basketball; his favorite teams are the Giants and the Yankees. Angus also has a blast playing Batman and sports games on his Nintendo Wii game system. Angus was born with a nonfunctioning liver due to a condition called biliary atresia. This occurs when the bile duct connecting the liver to the gallbladder is missing or blocked. When he was 7-months-old, Angus endured a liver transplant surgery, for which his father donated part of his own liver. Angus also had drains implanted in his stomach to help drain fluid buildup until he was 4-years-old. Unfortunately, the initial transplant surgery left Angus intestines rather twisted and full of scar tissue and he had to have an emergency surgery to fix; he will probably have to endure another surgery later on in the future. For now, Angus condition is monitored through blood work and he follows a strict daily medication regimen. For his wish, Angus wants to spend some time at the fun theme parks in Orlando, Florida with his family. Get ready to experience the magic, Angus, because your wish is about to come true. 3 MISSION STATEMENT Kids Wish Network is a national charitable organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children having experienced life-altering situations. Kids Wish Network assists children and their families through several key programs: PROGRAMS Kids Wish Network fulfills the wishes of children ages 3 to 18 suffering with life-threatening medical conditions or exceptional circumstances as determined by medical professionals. Our dedicated staff and volunteers infuse much-needed hope into sick children s lives by challenging their imaginations and then transforming their wishes from far-fetched fantasy to reality. We create once-ina-lifetime experiences that turn moments into long-lasting precious memories. Kids Wish Network On Tour works through community leaders such as Mayors, Police and Fire Departments, to provide children, ages 3-16, who are facing significant challenges including homelessness, abuse, neglect, abandonment and physical or mental challenges with new toys, clothes, gifts and games. Additionally Kids Wish Network On Tour provides these at-risk children the opportunity for positive interaction with volunteers from law enforcement, fire protection and community leaders. Through our gift-giving Holiday of Hope campaign, Kids Wish Network brings toys, entertainment, celebrities, and a much-needed break from medical treatment to children in hospitals and other facilities across the country. Kids Wish Network s Gift Bank Program provides hospital emergency rooms, pediatric wards, and other facilities with age-appropriate gifts, and offers a much needed distraction from often traumatic experiences. Kids Wish Network s Funeral Assistance Program helps the families of our wish kids who have passed away by lifting economic burden and ensuring a proper end-of-life ceremony.
