2 Last minute December Reminders: Don t forget to redeem your HealthyBlues Points by December 31 st! It is a use-it-or lose it system! Points do not carry over into Here is the point and reward chart Go to: HealthyBlue Updates: The redemption center is set up with gift cards in certain monetary increments (it is under the select denominations after you click on a certain option. You might end up getting a couple gift cards based on your points earned. For example, if you earned 5,000 points, you could get a $25 gift card from Target and a $25 gift card from L.L. Bean for your $50 reward or two $25 gift cards from Target. If you have questions, please contact Tara Roberts, the NDPERS/BCBSND liaison at: or tara.roberts@bcbsnd.com. If you participate in the Health Club Credit, you will see a 2,000 point removal from your available total on HealthyBlue every month that you receive $20 from the Health Club Credit. This allows the system to stop at $250 maximum per person between both programs. Starting January 1, 2013, log on to do your annual health risk assessment to use both the Health Club Credit and HealthyBlue programs for the year. Register for the Diabetes Prevention Program Program starts on January 14 th, 2013 For 1 hour a week (for 16 weeks), you will work with a lifestyle coach to transform your life, if you are ready! Class runs every Monday from 4:45-5:45pm at the Wellness Center. No membership is needed. As a result of reading the food labels and attempting to eat fewer than 33 fat grams per day, I lost 58 pounds. Because of the weight loss, I am no longer taking pain medication for my knee. In September 2012 my glucose was 94 (Range mg/dl), so I am no longer prediabetic. - Eileen Tronnes Nelson, UND staff member. 5 SKI UND and Late Night Skate SKI UND kicks off Tuesday, January 8 th and is open during Wellness Center building hours until Spring Break (or when the snow melts). Staff, faculty and families can borrow skis, boots and poles for free for one hour with your UND ID (no Wellness Center membership is needed). Late Night Skate will also start in January and will go every weekend at University Park until Spring Break (or when the ice melts). Skate rental is free for staff, faculty and students with your UND ID. There will also be a 4v4 Pond Hockey Tournament taking place on January 25 th and 26 th (tentative). Any UND student, faculty, or staff can sign up for the tournament, but there will be a maximum of 16 teams. 6 Work Well Monthly Challenge December, 2012 GIVING to INCREASE SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL WELLNESS December is a great time to give the gift of your time to attain that great feeling of making a difference by helping another person! EASY CHALLENGE: Help with a one-time event that makes a difference for someone else. Perhaps it is adopting a family for holiday gifts, giving of your time, helping an elderly neighbor, inviting international students to a meal, donating items to the mission of the Staff Senate Food and Personal Care Drive, or giving financially to an organization or family. Complete the below for the water bottle drawing.
