1 Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust A rent in the fabric: trauma across the life cycle The Northern School of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy in collaboration with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to host this one day CPD conference, with the support of the Institute of Psychoanalysis. The aim of the day is to develop participants understanding and thinking about psychoanalytic concepts and clinical descriptions relating to the experience of trauma across the life cycle. It is particularly relevant for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Adult Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts, Psychodynamic Psychotherapists and other interested mental health professionals. Saturday 8th July 2017 Times: 9:15-16:45 (lunch provided) Venue: St Thomas Centre, Ardwick Green, Manchester, M12 6FZ (accessible to Piccadilly train station) Fee: 80 (20 places available at 65 for trainees who can demonstrate that they are on a clinical training)
2 About The Conference This conference brings together experienced psychoanalytic clinicians and those interested in psychoanalytic ideas in a range of work contexts, to consider the complexities of traumatic experiences across the lifecycle, and the dynamics of trauma in organisations. It provides an opportunity for participants to hear high quality presentations and engage in discussion with colleagues. Conference Aims: To increase participants understanding of psychoanalytic concepts in relation to trauma To develop participants psychoanalytic understanding of trauma within organisations To increase participants understanding of how trauma impacts upon development throughout the life cycle Who Should Attend? Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Adult Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists, Psychodynamic Psychotherapists and other interested mental health Professionals. Speakers Lisa Miller, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist Lisa Miller was a consultant child psychotherapist in the Child and Family Department at the Tavistock Clinic, where she at one time led the Under Fives service. She has a particular interest in infant and young child observation and was for some years the editor of the journal Infant Observation. At the same time she was always much involved in the training of child psychotherapists and continues since her retirement to supervise clinical work, teach, lecture and to consult. She has a wide general experience of work with children, adolescents and parents, has published in the field and has taught extensively in the UK and abroad. Ariel Nathanson, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist Ariel Nathanson is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist working at the Portman Clinic. He trained at the Tavistock Clinic and worked for CAMHS in East London. He has a private clinical practice and works as an organizational consultant, previously to Childhood First, and currently to Three Steps, a company running a few therapeutic communities in Ireland. He is a Clinical Consultant to Project 507, a company working to reduce youth violence in the community and prisons. Joanne Stubley, Psychoanalyst Joanne Stubley is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic. She leads the Tavistock Trauma Service, and has considerable experience of working with individuals, groups and organisations who have experienced trauma. She is actively involved in teaching and training in this field, with a particular interest in complex trauma. Dr Stubley is a member of the British Psychoanalytic Society, and is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (tf-cbt) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Judith Bell, Clinical Psychologist Judith Bell is a clinical psychologist and organisational consultant working across public and private sectors. She was previously Director of Tavistock Consulting, the organisational consultancy service of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust and continues to lead the Tavistock Professional Doctorate in Consultation and the Organisation. Judith has consulted in a range of settings where trauma, current and historic, has impacted working relationships and organisational effectiveness. Dr Elizabeth Gibb, Psychoanalyst Dr Elizabeth Gibb is a psychoanalyst living and working in Cumbria. She has also worked for many years in the NHS.
