Children s Cancer and Hematology Clinic, a joint effort of the Vannie E. Cook Jr.

3 The mission of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children s Cancer and Hematology Clinic is to offer treatment to children in South Texas who suffer from cancer and serious blood disorders. The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children s Cancer and Hematology Clinic, a joint effort of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation, Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers, is the region s first state-of-the-art pediatric hematology/oncology clinic. In addition to offering diagnostic and cancer treatment services, the clinic provides cancer genetic counseling to individuals and families concerned about their risk of cancer, offers the services of a long term survivor program which follows childhood cancer survivors through adulthood, and conducts childhood cancer epidemiology research. In its sixteenth years of operation, the Vannie Cook Children's Clinic has never denied a child care due to an inability to pay. The Vannie E. Friends for Hope is an organization of individuals in the Rio Grande Valley that are dedicated to helping the needs of children suffering from cancer and raising awareness for the Vannie E. Cook, Jr.

Friends for Hope s dedication to the only fully comprehensive children s cancer clinic in this area of South Texas is shown through the annual Christmas Party, adoption of some of the clincs most

Cook, Jr. Children s Cancer & Hematology Clinic in McAllen, Texas. Friends for Hope s dedication to the only fully comprehensive children s cancer clinic in this area of South Texas is shown through the annual Christmas Party, adoption of some of the clincs most needy families during the holiday season, and an annual cash donation. Friends for Hope hosts various social events in an effort to promote community awareness, such as, the Annual Fall Benefit Concert, Annual Bay Fishing Tournament, various social mixers, and fundraisers. Net proceeds from all events are donated to the Vannie E. Cook, Jr. Children s Cancer and Hematology Clinic. In the course of 13 years Friends for Hope is proud to have been able to donate over $1,300,000 to the clinic. The help of organizations like Friends for Hope has enabled the clinic to remain true to its mission of never turning a child away for inability to pay. In closing, Friends for Hope is exclusively committed to the Clinic s efforts to provide the best care and treatment available to our local children who suffer from cancer and blood disease.
