2 Part A: Executive Summary Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya was formed on the 15 th of October, 2009 as a provisional club. The club has managed to charter themselves 7 months later. The club has grown and developed since with a current statistics of 13 dedicated members as of May Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya believes in their motto of Fellowship through Service where the club emphasize on personal development and community service in all the activities that the club does while enjoying the fellowship and fun that comes along with it. Members of the club are determined to promote their club among their friends and family members through the interesting activities that they organized. They are also dedicated in promoting the club s event through their personal Facebook page, Twitter accounts and other social media network websites to expand their network to not only fellow Rotaract members of other clubs but as well as to their peers. Not only do the club believe in expanding their network among their family and friends but the members also holds a strong believe in building relationship with their sponsoring Rotary club and Interact Club members. The aim of Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya is to expand our network and awareness on the club to the public not only limits to the Interactors, Rotaractors or the Rotarians but certainly to bring the existence of the club to the knowledge of the community while serving back. With that being said, as part of members of Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya, our responsibilities to increase the awareness level among the public about the club is to hold events and let as many people as possible know of the club by placing our club logo to make a mark to wherever we are. Part B: Objectives 1) To increase awareness within the local communities regarding the things Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya are involved in. The objective for raising awareness about Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya to the public is to bring emphasize on the club motto of Fellowship through service where there is an encouragement of personal development and community service in the activities that is held. 2) To be a platform for youths of the group age 18 to 30 years old to play a part in making a difference in the community through the club s assistance and guidance while building fellowship among club members. Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya aspires to create a working avenue for the youths to collaborate and network with one another to make a difference in the community. The club aims to act as a platform for different individuals to pool their resources together and act towards a common goal of making a difference while having fun with one another through fellowship.

3 Part C: Project Proposal 1) Free Outpatient Clinic Volunteer FOC is an abbreviation for Free Outpatient Clinic. This project is an initiation by the club s sponsoring Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Kelana Jaya. FOC is located in a low income area of Petaling Jaya and has been in operation since It is believed to be the longest continuous running project by a Rotary Club in District It is open every Tuesday and Friday evening from 6PM to 8PM. Patients are treated free of charge by our volunteer doctors led by a charter member of Rotary Club of Kelana Jaya, Dr. Hari Yanansakaran and assisted by other Rotarians and their wives. In Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya, we have always believed in giving 100% support to the projects that our Rotary club organized. Being Rotaractors, we are determined and encouraged to help out as much as possible in the medical outreach clinic. With that being said, there is a very strong relationship built between our sponsoring Rotary Club with Rotaract Club. We believe that awareness of the Rotaract Club don t cater to the public but sometimes it is needed internally amongst the Rotary and Rotaract clubs to build a better relationship to reach out effectively. 2) SOS Series 1 Cars 101 SOS Series are series of events that are organized to improve on the members knowledge on basic encountering that we may face on a life to life basis. This project which was held on the 22 nd September 2012 aimed to teach not only members of Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya but other Rotaractors in the District as well as guests on how to take extra precaution of the cars by learning how to check the oil, coolant and inflate tyres as well as tips on how to use the tools that are available in the car during a car breakdown and other preventive measures. In this workshop, members and guests was bonded over tea and snacks that were available as well. This workshop was able to help the club expand in building more relationship with the new guests and members of other Rotaract Clubs as well. It was definitely a fruitful day as we did not only learn the precautions and steps on how to properly handle a car but we have made new friends and improved on fellowship with other Rotaractors. Besides that, we have left a little gift for the car workshop that we have attended to leave a mark on behalf of Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya. 3) Hosting of Taiwanese Rotaract Club of Chia-Yi North When the Rotaractors Club of Chia-Yi North came down from Taiwan, we had the honour to cohost our fellow Rotaractors with Rotaract Club of Subang. There were a group of 13 of them which we had brought them out to visit the heart of Kuala Lumpur and had the opportunity to enlighten them with the culture of the country of Malaysia. During the hosting, we were able to interact with the Rotaractors from Taiwan and exchange knowledge and thoughts on how we run things here in Malaysia and how they run things in Taiwan. We have definitely learned a lot through exchanging stories and ideas on how to make

4 rooms for improvement. Awareness on the club was raised based on the amount of experiences and ideas that were shared among the three clubs that were involved during their visit. 4) PENTA Project This project was held and engaged with involvement from 5 different Rotaract Clubs namely, Rotaract Club of Aimst, Rotaract Club of Sentral College, Rotaract Club of University Technology Petronas, Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya and Rotaract Club of Penang. The aim of this project was to volunteer in a shelter for disabled people as we make our way to Ipoh to help in cleaning the shelter, cooking for the residence and basically just spending time with the children there. In the midst of the planning of the project, awareness was raised through getting funding from our friends, family and fellow Rotarians as well. This was able to give the public on what exactly do we do as a Rotaract Club. Besides just only telling them on what they do, they can also witness themselves as attending the project as guests if interested. Further awareness on what the Rotaract Club do was raised by a video that was made by our current charter member, Rotaractor Rufus Premraj on what went on during the visit to the shelter. The video was made public and went viral around our friends, family members, Rotarians and even to strangers that stumbled across the video. 5) Project Liber8 Launch This launch was organized by Project Liber8 which was an initiation by an organization called Onyx Charity Association which aims to aspire the youth to minister the cause that they believe in fighting. The launch was held to officiate the project that wishes to raise awareness on the issue of human trafficking to the public. Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya took the opportunity in getting involved by giving their full support to the project for over a year now. During the launch, the club had the opportunity in spreading awareness on the club to the same target market by having their logo prompted in the LED screen that were available in Zouk Club KL and the logo was also flashed in the plasma screen TV. Besides that, Rotaract Club of Kelana Jaya also distributed flyers on what the club is all about in the bags that were given as door gifts during the event. 6) Public Awareness In order to expand our network and public awareness to another level, we came up with a few merchandises that would do the job. Being in a country that depends heavily on personal transportation, the committee members have decided that the best way incorporate this idea is to have car accessory merchandises namely car stickers and car emblem with the Rotaract Club s logo. Hence, with these merchandises being used by fellow Rotaractors, friends and family members it will increase the public awareness even when we re stuck in the traffic jam, in car parks, and basically just everywhere the car goes. The car stickers are being sold to Rotaractors, family members, friends, colleagues and everyone who are interested.
