2 Letter from the Chair Attention Members, Summer is coming to an end and hopefully that means the heat is coming to an end too! However, don t be fooled things are just heating up for the St. Louis chapter. St. Louis Chapter s annual, all-day, scientific symposium is right around the corner, Friday September 16 th. This year s symposium is shaping up to be as good as ever. There are a variety of speakers and activities planned for the event so keep your eyes peeled for all the specific details coming in the following weeks. Mark your calendars! Another important announcement. Some of you may or may not know, our Secretary, Vicki Ly, will be leaving St. Louis to pursue academic interests. Vicki has been a very supportive and integral member to the St. Louis chapter of the Society of Cosmetic chemists and she will be greatly missed. I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. With Vicki s departure I have formally appointed Sophie Lamsargis as our Secretary for the remainder of the term3. Sophie is a vibrant addition to the board. Make sure to introduce yourself to her at the Symposium! Beyond the symposium we have a joint technical meeting with the St. Louis Institute of Food Technologists in October and our Holiday/Installation party in November. Also, in October we have our elections for officers. Anyone who would like to nominate a member please do so by September 15 th. In October 2016, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists will host the 29th Congress of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC). This prestigious event will be held October 30 November 2, 2016 at the Walt Disney World Resort s Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Cosmetic Scientists presently representing the 47 Member Societies comprising the IFSCC will gather to discuss and advance the science and technology of our industry. The theme for the Congress is Beyond Dreams into New Frontiers: Inspire, Imagine, Innovate. The 29th IFSCC Congress will provide the US industry an opportunity to exchange scientific knowledge on a global basis. Lastly, we are always on the lookout for speakers, so if you are interested in speaking or have a topic you would like to see at our events please feel free to contact me or any of the board members. Please go to click on the member portal on the upper right hand side. Your login is your on file with the SCC. Your password is your initials in CAPS followed by your membership number.
