2 1 RECRUITMENT PROCESS Position to be advertised through various media, commencing Tuesday 5 th Applications to be submitted via to Cecilia Rais, Human Resources Manager, at jobs@collectivepurpose.org.au Closing date for applications this is an immediate start position All applications will be acknowledged by Applications should include a covering letter or , a current resume or CV, and a statement addressing all Selection Criteria in a separate word document (see Position Description attached) Applications will not progress to interview if all the selection criteria are not addressed Selected applicants will be invited to attend an interview and will be given at least one week s notice of the time and date Applicants will be asked to prepare a 10 minute presentation on a topic of their choice for the panel as part of the interview process Interviews will be conducted by a recruitment panel consisting of: o MHCN Program Manager, o MHCN Chief Executive Officer, and o Collective Purpose HR Manager Interviewees will be asked to attend 15 minutes prior to the interview All interviewees will be asked to deliver a 10 minute presentation to the Panel and to answer the same set of questions; but the panel reserves the right to ask additional clarifying questions if necessary The panel will rank eligible applicants in order of preference The panel will check references as provided by the selected applicants The panel will confer to confirm its decision. The panel s decision is based on individual merit plus consideration of the written application, interview, and referees comments The successful applicant will be offered the position. If they decline, the position will be offered to the next ranked person All unsuccessful applicants will be notified in writing as soon as possible after the recruitment process is completed

This course teaches mental health first aid skills to adults to give initial help to adolescents and young adults experiencing mental health problems, in mental health crisis situations or in the early stages of mental illness. Mental Health First Aid for the Suicidal Person The 4-hour Mental Health First Aid for the Suicidal Person Course is based on the revised Mental Health First Aid Guidelines for Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviours. This course is certified by Mental Health First Aid Australia. Users Guide to the NSW Mental Health System Users Guide to the NSW Mental Health System is a 4-hour course that delivers an overview of the complex mental health sector from primary care through Medicare under General Practitioners, to involuntary hospital treatment under the supervision of Mental Health Review Tribunal. In-House Tailored Mental Health Training / Information Workshops MHCN frequently delivers mental health awareness training to mental health carers and consumers, as well as to other community managed organisations and clinical and support service providers whose staff require development in particular areas of mental health and/or carer support.

SCHCADS L3P1 (SACS G3Y1) Suite 501, 80 William Street, Woolloomooloo, 2011 Program Manager N/A About: Arafmi was founded in 1974 as the Association of Relatives And Friends of the Mentally Ill and renamed to Mental Health Carers NSW Inc. (MHCN) in 2016 to align with our national body Mental Health Carers Australia and recovery-oriented language. As the peak body for mental health carers in NSW, MHCN represents the interests of mental health carers in NSW. MHCN regularly consults with carers across NSW to gain information on their opinions and experiences with the mental health system. MHCN uses the information gained in these consultations to provide feedback on policies and services on behalf of carers to the NSW Ministry of Health and to other government bodies. By influencing changes in policy, legislation and service provision, MHCN aims to make a positive difference to the mental health system for carers and empower carers to become champions for mental health reform. Role description: This role will work under the direction of the Program Manager and will be responsible for the successful development and delivery of new and existing workshops and training programs within Mental Health Carers NSW (MHCN) training program. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, deliver and facilitate new training and information workshops aimed at supporting mental health carers in their role as carer of a loved one living with mental illness and/or service staff in better understanding and supporting mental health carers and the people they care for Facilitate existing MHCN group-based training programs independently or with other trainer/s Contribute to the development and review of MHCN training courses and associated materials Use and maintain appropriate participant records, information systems and delivery processes Implement feedback mechanisms to collect data for service reporting and quality improvements

5 Support the ongoing quality monitoring and improvement of MHCN training and education resources Assist in the promotion and marketing of MHCN training opportunities, such as through communicating with stakeholders, other service providers and the community Other: Act in accordance with the principles of Carers empowerment and inclusion Act in accordance with MHCN s established policies and procedures paying particular attention to the Code of Conduct Act always in accordance with the Disability Services Act 1993 and Privacy Act 2012 Promote MHCN s services and campaigns Report all hazards and near misses, incidents and accidents to management Exercise duty of care to other staff and visitors to the Collective Purpose premises Routinely contribute to the life and wellbeing of MHCN and all its constituents. 3.1 Essential Criteria: 1. Demonstrated experience in planning, delivering and evaluating training programs and processes that meets the range of adult learning needs 2. Good understanding of issues that can affect people with a lived experience of mental illness and their families and carers 3. Very good understanding of perspectives of people with mental illness informed by personal experience, work experience, research and/or connections with others 4. Sound understanding of mental health policy especially in relation to mental health rights, recovery and trauma informed practice 5. Relevant qualifications in training facilitation or equivalent working experience 6. Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills 7. Confidence in using technology and systems including a working knowledge of MS Office suite Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook 8. Ability to work well individually and as part of a team 9. Good organisational and administrative skills 10. Good understanding of and commitment to work within the vision, values and principles of MHCN, and principles of social justice 3.2 Desirable Criteria Flexibility to travel and work across multiple locations Current Driver s License Conditions of employment are as detailed in the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award (SCHCADS), a copy of which is available in the workplace.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-driven Workshop Facilitator who has the exciting opportunity to develop and facilitate brand new training and information workshops aimed at supporting mental health carers navigate their way through the challenges associated with caring for a loved one living with mental illness; and service staff to better support carers and their loved ones. Your experience and understanding of mental health will ensure the successful implementation and delivery of these new workshops which will introduce carers to the Mental Health Tribunal as well as guide carers on becoming a mentor for loved ones when developing a Wellness, Recovery, Action Plan (WRAP). You will also be empowered to facilitate our existing training course The User s Guide to the NSW Mental Health System. The position is casual (one day a week) and allows you some flexibility to work around your schedule or from home as appropriate this will be depending on deadlines of training deliverables. This position is classified Level 3 Pay Point 1 (SACS G3Y1) of the Social, Community Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHCADS) hourly rate $ Interested?
